Schedule: Part-Time or Full-Time | Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday | 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Flexible shifts, could split shifts if needed.)
About the Role
Assisting Hands Home Care is seeking a seasoned, resilient, and highly compassionate Memory Care Specialist for a one-on-one client at her home in Kansas City.
This client lives with advanced memory problems and experiences severe behavioral symptoms, including emotional outbursts, verbal hostility, and occasional physical aggression (such as throwing objects or demanding that the caregiver leave).
Please note: This position is strictly for advanced memory care professionals. We cannot accept new or entry-level caregivers for this specific case. We need someone who deeply understands dementia behaviors, excels at de-escalation, and remains calm under pressure.
Key Responsibilities

Advanced Behavioral Support & De-escalation: Safely manage verbal aggression, agitation, and resistance to care using redirection and validation techniques.

Break-and-Reset Strategy: Maintain client dignity and caregiver safety by utilizing an on-site break room in the client's apartment building to step away, reset, and re-engage once the client has calmed down.

Personal Care: Assist with gentle, patient incontinence care and personal hygiene.

Safety & Companionship: Ensure a safe, supportive environment while respecting the client's space during difficult moments.
Requirements

Proven Memory Care Experience: Extensive background working with seniors diagnosed with severe dementia, Alzheimer's, or related cognitive disorders involving challenging behaviors.

Strong De-escalation Skills: Ability to handle being yelled at or having items thrown without responding with anger or taking behaviors personally.

Patience & Emotional Maturity: Professional composure and a firm understanding of dementia-driven actions.

Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality for scheduled 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM shifts.

Background Check: Ability to pass standard background screening and drug testing.
Schedule & Shift Flexibility
Assisting Hands Home Care is hiring for shifts running Monday and Wednesday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
We offer options for both part-time and full-time employment. Qualified candidates may take on all available days or split the week with another dedicated caregiver.
