Job Description

This is a 0.2 position (5:00 - 6:55 pm) at Arlington Community High School for SY27.

Qualifications

• Teaching endorsement in 8430 Building Trades, or
• Teaching endorsement in 8420 Electricity, or
• Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement appropriate instructional and/or learning strategies and activities, including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials, provide appropriate learning experiences, manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement, and utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multi-media and computer
• technology to enhance learning.
• Willingness to collaborate with regular education teachers.
• Continually assess student achievement and maintain appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
• Manage the behavior of learners in an instructional setting to ensure environment is conducive to the learning process, and assist and participate in management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site.
• Participate in in-service and professional development activities and staff meetings, as required or
• assigned.
• Foster partnerships and ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress.
• Complete other duties as assigned

Experience

Possess occupational experience and/or industry credentials that may qualify the candidate for a Virginia CTE teaching license in the applicable endorsement area. Relevant qualifications may include:

• DPOR Journeyman or Master credentials applicable to the teaching specialty
• Successful, full-time occupational experience, or the equivalent, in the applicable trade or teaching specialty, consistent with Virginia Department of Education licensure requirements.
• Candidates who do not currently hold a Virginia teaching license or the full teaching endorsement are encouraged to apply. APS will review the candidate’s education, occupational experience, and industry credentials to determine potential eligibility for an appropriate Virginia CTE licensure pathway. Final determination of licensure eligibility is made by the Virginia Department of Education.

Salary

• Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule: $64,637 - $144,723
