SUMMARY
Work Transition Program participants gain valuable retail experience while receiving coaching on the job. Work Transition Program participants are expected to engage in on the job training activities, one to one coaching for job readiness, and weekly financial planning guidance. Program participants rotate through assigned jobs during their twelve-week program.
PROGRAM PARTICIPANT DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in hands-on job training in a retail store.
- Actively learn new job skills through daily coaching by an assigned Skills Trainer.
- With guidance from your Skills Trainer, regularly review skills checklists for assigned job duties to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement.
- Participate in daily team meetings to understand store team objectives and expectations.
- Spend up to four hours a week of program time participating in workshops and one-to-one coaching.
- Engage in a variety of tasks across different store departments to build a diverse skill set.
- Adhere to work schedule and attend all program activities.
- Communicate effectively with assigned Community Employment & Training Specialist and Prosperity Planner.
- Complete an updated resume and complete mock interview training.
- Complete a “Prosperity Plan” outlining your goals and plans for financial growth.
- Regularly provide feedback to make the most of your program experience.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
- A willingness to learn and engage in on-the-job training.
- Commitment to following program guidelines and workplace policies.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and follow instructions.
- Open to feedback and coaching to support professional development.
- Willingness to rotate through different job roles and responsibilities to gain diverse experience.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS
- Regular standing and walking in a retail environment.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 15 lbs., with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
- Use of appropriate material handling equipment or assistance for heavier items.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and report any workplace hazards.
