Job Description

Purpose
The purpose of this position is to support the growth, operational effectiveness, and data-driven goals of the Career Services department. This position will provide support in the collection, organization, analysis, and reporting of Career Services data while assisting with departmental operations, employer engagement, events, and student services.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, comfortable working with data and technology, and interested in developing practical experience related to data analytics, information systems, business intelligence, or technology-supported operations.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions
Data Management, Reporting & Analytics
Assist with the collection, entry, validation, organization, and maintenance of Career Services data across multiple university systems and tracking tools.
• Review data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and potential discrepancies.
• Maintain spreadsheets, trackers, dashboards, and other reporting tools used to monitor departmental activities and outcomes.
• Assist with compiling and analyzing data related to:
o Student engagement and Career Center utilization
o Career fairs and departmental events
o Employer engagement
o Internships and employment outcomes
o Graduate school matriculation
o Career Connections activity
o Department programs and initiatives
• Create and update reports using Microsoft Excel and other available reporting or visualization tools.
Assist with identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities within departmental data.
• Support data cleanup, reconciliation, and quality-assurance projects.
• Help translate data into clear summaries, reports, and visualizations that can support departmental decision-making.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with student, employer, and departmental information.


Career Connections & Systems Support

  • Successfully utilize the manager features of Career Connections to:
  • Track and maintain documentation of student internships, employment opportunities, graduate school matriculation, and other career outcomes.
  • Review and maintain employer and student engagement data.
  • Create, analyze, and disseminate system reports.
  • Create and manage student announcements.
  • Assist employers with navigating the digital job board and other system features.
  • Assist with testing, documenting, and improving processes involving Career Services technology and data systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data collection, tracking, reporting, and departmental workflows.

Career Services Operations
Assist with the successful overall operation of the Career Services department through assigned administrative and operational responsibilities.
• Manage assigned department inboxes and assist with office phone lines and occasional office guests.
• Enter information into university systems in a timely manner while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
• Track and document completed work using Outlook, Trello, OneNote, Excel, and other departmental systems.
• Assist Career Center staff with tracking student engagement, maintaining records, answering general questions, and supporting day-to-day Center operations.
• Professionally collaborate with university departments, leadership, students, and external partners.

Employer Engagement & Events
• S
upport industry-related events and activities, including career fairs, Companies on Campus, employer-led professional development opportunities, advisory boards, capstone showcases, company tours, and other Career Services events.
• Assist with event logistics, including setup, tear-down, check-in, and day-of operations.
• Track, validate, and organize student and employer attendance data.
• Assist with post-event data collection and reporting.
• Help identify and implement strategies to increase student awareness and engagement with Career Services resources and opportunities.

Process Improvement & Special Projects
Provide documented feedback and recommendations for continual improvement of departmental processes.
• Assist with special projects involving data collection, process mapping, reporting, technology, research, and operational efficiency.
• Help develop or update documentation and standard operating procedures related to assigned systems and processes.
• Engage in Career Services initiatives under the supervision of assigned Career Services staff.
• Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
• S
trong interest in data analytics, information systems, technology, business intelligence, or data-driven decision-making.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including the ability or willingness to learn functions such as formulas, sorting/filtering, PivotTables, charts, data validation, and data organization.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to quickly learn and navigate new software, databases, and technology platforms.
• Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on data accuracy and quality.
• Ability to organize, interpret, and communicate information clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to recognize patterns, discrepancies, and trends within data.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Professional and composed when interacting with students, employers, university departments, and leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with student and departmental information.

Preferred Academic Background
Preference will be given to students currently pursuing a degree in one of the following or a closely related field:
• Computer and Information Science
• Business Analytics
• Business Information Systems
• Data Analytics or Data Science
• Information Technology
• Computer Science
• Business Administration with an analytics, information systems, or technology emphasis

Students should have an interest in applying their academic knowledge to real-world data, reporting, systems, and business operations projects within Career Services.


Experience/Education
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student-first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
• Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor's program or master's program.
• Retain a 2.0 GPA as a bachelor's-level student or a 3.0 GPA as a master's-level student.
• Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027
