- - - The Career Development Specialist is responsible for recruiting and enrolling eligible workforce development participants, providing individualized case management, delivering training, and supporting job placement and career advancement. This role engages participants through outreach, orientation, intake, assessment, career planning, and supportive counseling. The Specialist facilitates work readiness training, connects participants with needed community resources, and partners with employers to develop job opportunities. All work must align with Goodwill’s mission of transforming lives through education, training, and employment.

- - - Essential Functions:

- - - - Demonstrate Goodwill’s core values of service, ownership, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
- - - - Ensure high‑quality, mission-focused services that support participant success and program sustainability.
- - - - Conduct daily outreach to recruit eligible workforce development participants.
- - - - Track outreach efforts in the CRM system.
- - - - Provide regularly scheduled orientations, both in‑person and virtually.
- - - - Conduct one-on-one intake and assessments; maintain weekly case notes and accurate data entry.
- - - - Provide individualized case management, vocational guidance, and supportive counseling.
- - - - Develop individualized career plans, including possible transitions to Helms College, Goodwill HR, Goodwill Staffing Services, or Helms Career Education.
- - - - Deliver training on work readiness topics.
- - - - Provide supervision and coaching to participants working in community-based work sites.
- - - - Build and maintain high-quality relationships with community partners, agencies, and employers.
- - - - Develop employer sites and job opportunities; match participant skill sets to employer needs.
- - - - Maintain regular communication with referring counselors and partner agencies.
- - - - Participate in outreach events, community meetings, and advisory councils as assigned.
- - - - Prepare required reports for funding sources and program evaluation.
- - - - Complete all Workforce Development core training.
- - - - Maintain all documentation and records of program operations.
- - - - Comply with Agency, WFD, CARF, federal and grant regulations, policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Agency’s safety and security policies and procedures.
- - - - Participate in community and Goodwill meetings as needed or as assigned.
- - - - Assist with the recruitment, enrollment, and intake for programs including GVRA, SNAPWorks, SNAP2Work, TANF, etc. as requested.
- - - - Ensure that participant enrollment, management, and outcomes align with program or contract requirements.

- - - - Bachelor’s Degree in a vocationally related field and two (2) years of experience in counseling, linking with community resources, special education or instruction. Master’s Degree preferred.
- - - - Working knowledge of case management, interviewing, and counseling techniques.
- - - - Strong analytical, writing and communication skills.
- - - - Experience with medical, psychological, social and vocational aspects of disability and/or economic disadvantage; community resources, occupational information and job readiness.
- - - - Must be proficient in the use of computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- - - - Ability to facilitate positive actions and growth of participants in a flexible geographic work environment and working hours where self-direction, prioritizing and organizational skills are crucial to success.
- - - - Strong ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain positive working relationships with a wide variety of organizations and individuals
- - - - Must have access to and maintain reliable transportation and a clean motor vehicle report (MVR).
