Career Consultant – Workforce Development
Reports To: Program Manager, WFD; Coordinator, WFD

The Career Consultant will leverage their expertise in work-readiness training, career coaching, modern job search techniques, and employment to support clients with in achieving their career goals while providing hands-on job coaching and individualized career support.
Essential Job Functions
• Provide personalized job coaching to participants before, during, and after placement, focusing on both technical job duties and essential workplace behaviors.
• Assist individuals in identifying career goals, overcoming barriers, and developing skills necessary for long-term success in employment.
• Guide participants through career exploration, job search strategies, and professional development to enhance their marketability.
• Deliver workplace readiness training, teaching soft skills such as professionalism, adaptability, communication, and teamwork.
• Offer one-on-one coaching and support to help participants build confidence, navigate workplace challenges, and understand employer expectations.
• Develop individualized employment and training plans that align with employer needs and job-seeker capabilities.
• Act as a liaison between participants and employers, fostering successful job placements and ensuring a positive experience for both parties.
• Provide on-the-job coaching, addressing performance improvement, work ethic, reliability, and employer feedback to enhance long-term retention.
• Maintain accurate records, evaluate program performance, and ensure positive customer experiences through effective communication and problem-solving.
• Foster strong business relationships and understand the needs of employers in the workforce development system.
• Utilize database management systems to track participant progress and outcomes.
• Meet established employer engagement goals and an 85% job placement rate.
Education & Experience
• Minimum of two years of experience in Workforce Development, Outplacement, Recruitment, or Vocational Counseling.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention (as needed).
• Valid OH driver’s license with personal auto insurance.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Organized, independent, and capable of multitasking under pressure.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills to address challenging situations.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Office-based environment with moderate noise levels.
• Requires extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
• Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements for typing and computer work.
• Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
• Regular attendance is essential.
