Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Career Coach for Experiential Learning & Internships. - Boca Raton, FL .

The Career Coach, Experiential Learning & Internship is a multifaceted role that engages students, alumni, faculty, staff, employer partners, and the community. Responsible for developing and executing programs that support experiential learning objectives, creating positive pathways for student and employer engagement through job shadowing programs, internships, micro-internships, and other experiential learning opportunities. The Career Coach will build internal and external connections, helping students identify and prepare for their future careers.

of responsibilities:

Program Management - Employer Engagement & Internship Development/Tracking:

  • Develops strategic employer outreach and marketing plans to identify potential employer contacts, researching opportunities for experiential learning opportunities, such as off-campus internships, job shadowing, micro-internships, fellowships, and part/full-time employment.

  • Supports and collaborates with the Employer and Community Engagement team on an Employer Education Program to educate employers on internship program development, job shadowing, and hiring international students.

  • Supports a robust on-campus internship program by identifying and advocating for internship positions campus-wide and conducting outreach to FAU departments to increase on-campus internships.

  • Educates employers on best practices for establishing and operating internship programs.

  • Collaborates with FAU Career Center College Liaisons to develop, track, and execute internship programs.

  • Collects and reports internship engagement and employment data.

  • Cultivates relationships with new and existing employers, proactively following up and scheduling virtual and in-person meetings to strengthen partnerships.

  • Promotes career fairs and specific events to employers based on recruiting needs.

  • Researches and updates on special topics to stay abreast of best practices, such as increasing international internship programs and opportunities for students, and establishing relationships with relevant employers.

  • Supports the President’s Internship Program for Community Impact (PIPCI) and other specialized internship programs funded by the university or private donors.

Student Engagement:

  • Assists with college-specific internship programs by supporting college liaisons in delivering career coaching and helping with internship registrations within college career offices.

  • Provides drop-in career coaching to students in the Career Lab on a regular basis, offering brief consultations, staff support, and targeted career resources as needed.

  • Develops, delivers, and facilitates experiential learning workshops and programs for students, faculty, and staff.

  • Provides comprehensive services for students and alumni, including resume building, critiques, internship searches, micro-internship and job shadow applications, job search strategies, career exploration, and interview preparation.

  • Assists students with internship course registrations.

  • Grades student assignments for Internship Courses.

  • Guides students in utilizing career-related and internship course technology platforms such as Handshake, Canvas, Big Interview, Jobscan, Focus 2, and others.

  • Coaches students through the reflective process following experiential education and assists in assessing next steps.

  • Completes detailed notes of the career coaching session according to standards and follows up with students and alumni with resources at the conclusion of each appointment.

General:

  • Supports Career Center Events, initiatives, and special programs, and delivers FAU Career Center programs within the broader FAU community.

  • Conducts presentations on Career Center services (internship search strategies, how to succeed at your internship, micro-internships, etc.) to students, families, and faculty.

  • Exhibits strong multitasking skills while managing student appointments, employer interactions, internship data reports, and other projects as needed.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Salary:

$50,000 - $51,500 annually.
