The University of Iowa Pomerantz Career Center is seeking a passionate Career Coach (50% appointment) dedicated to empowering undergraduate students as they explore, define, and pursue their career paths. If you’re energized by student development, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact, we’d love to have you on our team!

As a Career Coach, you will support undergraduate students in discovering and achieving their career goals through individualized coaching, dynamic workshops, and hands-on guidance in the job, internship, and graduate school search process. You’ll collaborate with faculty and campus partners, contribute to innovative programming, and play a key role in increasing student engagement with career services.

They will also have the opportunity to:

  • Advise, orient, and assist students, faculty, and staff in the use of occupational and job search resources.

  • Collaboratewithassigned departments/collegesand fellow career coachesto assessandaddresscareer development needs of undergraduate students.

  • Maintainrelationships within assigned campus departments and serve as a liaison to internal and external entities, including university faculty, academicadvisors,and employer partners, to support student career development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • AMaster’s degree inStudentAffairs, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field, or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level ofexpertise.

  • Reasonable experience (1-3 years) of advising, coaching, teaching, training, counseling, career services, or other in a related academic or helping profession.

Competencies Required:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Knowledge and ability toprovidecareer advice, coaching, andassistancewith career decision-making and internship/job search preparation,search,and strategy.

    • Effective communication and ability to build andmaintainrelationships with individuals and groups.

    • Ability to plan,manageandfacilitateeducational/instructional workshops,programs,or related initiatives.

    • Ability to work collaboratively to organize, execute and evaluate events involving multiple stakeholders.

    • Ability to think creatively and develop/pilot new methods of meeting the changing career needs/expectations ofundergraduatestudent population.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a working proficiency level in the following competencies:

    • Experience working 1:1 and/or in groups with undergraduate college students

    • Familiarity/experience with career development concepts, including NACE Career Readiness Competencies

    • Experience with career assessment tools.

    • Experience collaborating with staff and faculty to integrate career development within the college student experience.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $24,000 - $33,000at 50% time, with the top of the range reserved for exceptionally qualified applicants. This position includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
