At Hinkley Point C, we're building the first new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain, helping to provide xero-carbon electricity to around six million homes. As a Tier One partner supporting Nuclear New Build, we deliver essential warehousing and transportation services to this landmark project.

Here at GXO, we're looking for a Care & Maintenance Technician to join our team in Bridgwater to help ensure the safe, compliant and effective maintenance of equipment and assets across our warehouse facilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant project whilst working within a safety-focused, highly regulated environment.

This is a full-time, permanent position. You will work Monday to Friday, 07:00 till 15:00..

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry put scheduled care and maintenance activities, defect inspections, evaluations, and rectification working in line with supplier requirements and maintenance plans
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, quality documentation, asset registers, and ONR-compliant records within required timescales
  • Support and host contractor visits, inspections, and maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards
  • Monitor equipment condition, escalate defects or concerns promptly, and work closely with Operations teams to align maintenance schedules with future deliveries
  • Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and maintenance performance

Qualifications

  • Level 2 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Maintenance or related discipline
  • IOSH Qualification

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Proven engineering or maintenance experience within a large engineering, industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or regulated environment
  • Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Maintenance, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of maintenance practices, engineering standards, risk assessments, and method statements
  • Excellent IT, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside contractors and external partners
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential), IOSH qualification, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, and experience with Asset Management systems.
