
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Responsible for providing specialized patient care within both invasive and non-invasive cardiac services, focusing on the management and operation of cardiovascular technology. The role involves a blend of direct patient care, equipment management, and administrative duties to ensure the delivery of high-quality care and the safety of patients undergoing various cardiac procedures.
JOB
ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
Ensure adherence to the hospital’s vision, mission, and nursing care standards
Perform diagnostic procedures such as ECG, echocardiograms, treadmill stresstests,holtermonitoring andambulatory blood pressuremonitoring.
Interpret ECG results and detect abnormalities
Assess the patient's condition and compare with diagnostic reports
Report abnormal findings to the relevant cardiologist or physicianimmediately
Discuss procedural details and special preferences with the cardiologist or physician before any procedure
Check and ensure correct billing for services rendered
Inform Unit Manager or Chief Nursing Officer when changes occur that affect the standard of care
Maintain effective communication with all disciplines, patients, and relatives
Assistother departmentsrequiringspecialized technicalassistance
Ensure cleanliness of the department and prepare for the next patient.
Document all cases accurately in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Record Book
Assistin transporting patients before and after cardiac procedures
Attend andparticipatein unit meetings, dialogue sessions, and hospital activities
Provide feedback to the Unit Manager or Chief Nursing Officer after assignments
Participate in planning, developing, and evaluating Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory services
Educate cardiac patients and their families on health matters
HUMAN RESOURCE AND DEVELOPMENT
Takes personal responsibility for own professional development and keeps up to date with professional change and growth bymaintainingmandatory learning hours.
Participates in the teaching program of the unit / ward and orientation of new members of staff to the unit routine.
Coordinates with Unit Manager for clinical training in the services.
Supports andassiststhe Unit Manager in effective and efficientutilizationof staff,suppliesand services.
Deployment to OT, ICU and ED services
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Contributes suggestions in periodic revision and upgrading of relevant Policies and Procedures and work instructions.
Checks daily and audits resuscitation trolley periodically as scheduled.
Ensure all staffcomplieswith Prevention and Control of Infection including implementation of surveillance activity in the unit and evidence of involvement.
Maintain confidentiality of patient’s personal and medical history
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
Operates /maintainsspecialized equipment assigned to the unit andprovides assistance guidance tonew staffin their use.
Involves in the Service Budget including Purchased ofnew itemsfor Cardiac Services.
Maintenance ofCardiac Equipmentand Machinery
Assists the Unit Manager in keepingaccuraterecords of equipment, medicalsuppliesand drugs in the unit.
Checks that all equipment in the unitarefunctioning well and service according to PPM schedule.
Report to Bio Medical personnel if anyfaultyand takes necessary action accordingly.
Assistsin maintenance of instruments and equipment by proper cleaning, handling, disinfect andutilizingas directed
SAFETY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES
1. Fully receptive and supportive in the activities that contribute towards continuous improvement of nursingservicee.g.Quality Assurance, Infection Control and Fire and Safety Program.
2. Conduct investigation and root cause analysis in any incident in the services, takesappropriate actionandensurecompletion of incident reports withinstipulatedtime frame
3. Carries out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations1994:-

4. Ensures complianceofpatient safety goals as safety improvement measures recommended byWorldAlliance for Patient Safety.
5. Ensures the policies on Patient and Family’s Rights areaddressed at all times .
6. Complies withthe Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Breastfeeding Policy, and protect,promoteand support Baby Friendly Hospital activities.
7. Participates in 5S activities andcomply withthe specified requirements
8. Ensures all staffadheres to Standard People Practice (SPP) at all times
JOB REQUIREMENT
Education:
Registered with the Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse
Post Basic qualification in a related field
Knowledge and Experiences:
Registered with Medical Assistant Board of Malaysia with valid license to practice as a Medical Assistant.
Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of clinical experience and diversity in clinical experience.
Skills & Competencies:
3 years’ experience with Post Basic certificatein Cardiovascular Technology ·Bachelor’s in nursingor relevant post graduate qualification.
Possesscertifications in BLS, ACLS, MTLS, PALS and NRP (according to the specialties)
