The Department of Internal Medicine at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for Division Chief of Cardiology, a physician leadership opportunity to shape the continued growth and strategic direction of cardiovascular and cardio-oncology care within a nationally recognized comprehensive cancer center.
The Division Chief will provide clinical and academic leadership for Roswell Park’s Cardiology/Cardio-Oncology program while developing a long-term vision for cardiovascular services that supports the increasingly complex needs of patients throughout cancer treatment and survivorship. The Chief will work across medical oncology, hematologic oncology, radiation oncology, surgery, critical care, survivorship, and other specialties to ensure cardiovascular expertise is seamlessly integrated into cancer care.
This position is designed for an accomplished cardiologist and collaborative physician leader who can build programs, develop faculty, establish clinical standards, strengthen multidisciplinary partnerships, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth. The Chief will play an important role in expanding Roswell Park’s capabilities in cardio-oncology and cardiac imaging while fostering an environment of clinical excellence, scholarship, mentorship, and accountability.
The successful candidate will combine clinical credibility with the strategic perspective necessary to lead a growing academic division and position Roswell Park as a destination for innovative cardiovascular care for patients with cancer.
What You’ll Do
• Establish and execute the strategic vision for the Division of Cardiology and its Cardio-Oncology program in alignment with Roswell Park’s clinical, academic, and institutional priorities
• Provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for cardiovascular services delivered across the cancer care continuum
• Lead the recruitment, development, mentorship, and retention of cardiology faculty as the division continues to grow
• Establish clinical standards, performance expectations, and evidence-based approaches to cardiovascular care for patients undergoing cancer treatment and survivorship
• Develop and expand multidisciplinary cardio-oncology programs in partnership with medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology, surgery, critical care, and survivorship teams
• Guide the strategic expansion of cardiovascular diagnostic and imaging capabilities, including echocardiography, strain imaging, stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac MRI
• Identify opportunities to expand patient access, improve clinical workflows, and develop new models of cardiovascular care tailored to the oncology population
• Partner with departmental and institutional leadership on resource planning, program development, quality, operational performance, and long-term growth
• Develop innovative clinical pathways for the prevention, surveillance, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular complications associated with cancer therapies
• Advance quality, safety, and patient-experience initiatives throughout the division
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and High Reliability Organization principles
• Foster clinical investigation and scholarly activity in cardio-oncology, cardiovascular imaging, treatment-related cardiotoxicity, survivorship, and related areas
• Support faculty participation in clinical trials, translational research, and multidisciplinary scientific collaborations
• Mentor faculty and trainees and create opportunities for professional and academic advancement
• Contribute to medical education and strengthen educational opportunities for residents, fellows, and other trainees
• Represent the division on departmental and institutional committees and serve as a collaborative partner to clinical and administrative leadership
• Maintain an active clinical practice appropriate to the responsibilities of the Division Chief
About the Division
The Cardiology/Cardio-Oncology program at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center provides specialized cardiovascular care for patients with cancer and cancer survivors within a multidisciplinary academic environment.
The division works closely with medical oncology, hematologic oncology, radiation oncology, surgery, critical care, and survivorship programs to prevent, identify, and manage cardiovascular complications associated with cancer and its treatment.
As part of an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the division has an opportunity to further develop an integrated model of cardiovascular care that combines clinical excellence, advanced imaging, research, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The next Division Chief will have the opportunity to help define the program’s next phase of growth and strengthen Roswell Park’s position at the intersection of cardiovascular medicine and oncology.

What You’ll Bring
• MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree
• Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease
• Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of New York
• Established clinical expertise in cardiology with experience or demonstrated interest in cardio-oncology
• Academic accomplishments appropriate for a leadership appointment within an academic medical center
• Demonstrated physician leadership experience with the ability to develop programs, mentor faculty, and build high-performing teams
• Experience establishing or advancing clinical programs, service lines, multidisciplinary initiatives, or cardiovascular services
• Strong understanding of quality, patient safety, clinical operations, and evidence-based cardiovascular care
• Ability to develop productive partnerships across clinical, scientific, and administrative disciplines
• Commitment to faculty development, mentorship, education, and academic advancement
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and change-management skills
• Executive presence and the ability to articulate and execute a compelling vision for the future of cardiology and cardio-oncology at Roswell Park
Required Education and Experience
License and Certification Requirement
1. License to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York or License to practice as a dentist in the State of New York as required for the area of expertise.
2. Possession of ABIM board certified/eligible in cardiovascular diseases.
Education and Experience
Medical Doctor degree or Doctor of Dental Science degree and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in cardiovascular diseases including six (6) months in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred, but Not Required
• Leadership experience and interest in directing or expanding a Cardiology/Cardio-Oncology division
• Active ABIM certification in Internal Medicine
• Board Eligibility or Certification in Nuclear Cardiology
• Experience or interest in stress echocardiography, nuclear stress testing, or cardiac MRI
• Interest in clinical research, cardio-oncology trials, and translational cardiovascular initiatives
• Dedication to fostering a culture grounded in innovation, inclusion, accountability, compassion, safety, and High Reliability Organization principles
