Principal Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates clinical proficiency and technical skills as Sonographer
  • Uses appropriate techniques with ultrasound equipment to supply diagnostic studies based upon physician request.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment for diagnosis
  • Demonstrate capability to provide high quality imaging
  • Maintains knowledge about sophisticated imaging features to support enhanced capturing of data
  • Appropriately acquire echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings to the interpreting physician
  • Ability to review a physician order to verify appropriateness for order being performed
  • Acts as a role model in providing care; assists in Precepting Cardio Sonographers I.
  • Retrieves studies from PACS for review
  • Performs appropriate infection control processes
  • Provides an environment of care that supports patient safety
  • Addresses patient informative needs as pertains to requested studies
  • Prepares patients for the study
  • Supports IAC Standards and Guidelines
  • Assures accuracy data for clinical reports, demographics and billing information for physician reports

Qualifications

Education:

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) is required.

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of experience performing echocardiographic studies required

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) is required.
