POSITION PURPOSE

Performance of high quality echocardiogram ultrasound imaging (TEE and TTE) to evaluate aspects of the heart including chamber size, valve function, and blood flow. The individual for this position will perform imaging in a variety of settings and locations throughout the organization in a timely and professional manner consistent with the mission and values of the St. Joseph’s Health and the Trinity Health System.

Maintenance of equipment and proper care and handling according to manufacturer guidelines. Interdepartmental collaboration to ensure timely completion of procedures involving echo resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Performance of echocardiograms (TEE, TTE, SE as applicable per location) for inpatient and outpatient adults.

Interdepartmental collaboration for timely completion of studies.

Administration of image enhancing agent per ASE guidelines.

Participation in the Quality Improvement Program for the department.

Properly identifies patients and orients them to procedure(s). Complies with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) standards and guidelines. Proper maintenance and handling of equipment that is in compliance with manufacturer guidelines and organizational policy. Demonstrates flexibility, tact and ability to perform both independently and as a team member. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification as cardiac sonographer through CCI or ARDMS registry within 6 months of hire

Graduate of formal cardiac sonography training program highly preferred.

Knowledge of ultrasound techniques, principles and procedures.

Competence with equipment preferred.

Current BLS certification.

Participates in orientation, continuing education and updates, and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Office/Clinical setting. Exposure Class I – Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions or secretions.

Communicates and collaborates frequently, in person and over the phone, with members of the care team in all locations.

Manual dexterity is needed to operate a keyboard. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication.

Lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, sitting and walking are requirements of the cardiac sonographer role.

Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.

May be required to travel up to 10% between locations within the Region.

Pay Range: $39.45-59.20

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
