Work Shift
Performs all aspects and modalities of Cardiac Sonography and Cardiac Diagnostics to Health System patients per department guidelines. Maintains and completes appropriate documentation in patients’ charts and departmental records.
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Performs cardiac sonography, electrocardiography, and treadmill stress test per departmental guidelines
Performs diagnostic procedures per department guidelines
Assesses patient condition and evaluates cardiac diagnostics appropriately so recommendations can be made when necessary and established protocols are followed
Initiates and maintains monitoring equipment
Files paperwork and schedules appointments for department as needed
Knowledgeable in the use of equipment and treatment modalities for patients of all ages
Charges for all services provided inclusive of use of BCX system
Other duties as assigned
The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
High school diploma or equivalent required
BCLS certified by the American Heart Association
Credentialed by the (CCI) Cardiovascular Credentialing International or (ARDMS) American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Cardiac Sonography
1 year of cardiac sonography experience
Other cardiac diagnostic experience preferred
Understanding of medical terminology and current cardiopulmonary modalities
Ability to react calmly and maintain composure in stressful situations and when dealing with co-workers, patients, and hospital guests
Knowledgeable of the psychosocial and physiological development and spiritual needs of infants, children, adolescents, and all adult age groups (per Erickson’s Model) in order to provide appropriate care and intervention, either personally or through staff
Mo derate physical e xert ion, up to 30% of t he t ime, with ability to lift up to 50 lbs
