JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned departments. Plans, coordinates and evaluates overall clinical practice and management activities in the department. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

· Holds an active license as a Registered Nurse required and is eligible to practice in the state of Kentucky.

· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Minimum Work Experience

· Minimum of 3 years clinical experience in Cath Lab preferred.

· Previous experience in a leadership or coordinator role in a clinical setting is preferred.

Clinical Skills: Proficiency in assisting with cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, and other interventional procedures.

Leadership Skills: Strong organizational and leadership skills to effectively manage a multidisciplinary team and ensure operational efficiency.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of Cath Lab equipment, monitoring systems, and safety protocols.

Problem-Solving: Ability to remain calm under pressure, make quick decisions, and handle unexpected situations in a fast-paced environment.

Computer Skills: Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems, inventory management, and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).

On-Call Requirements: May require flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call availability to meet patient and operational needs. This is rare for this position but is a possibility.

Essential Functions

Patient Care Coordination: Oversee patient scheduling, assess patient care needs, as well as coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure timely, safe, and efficient care in the Cath Lab.

Procedure Assistance: Assist cardiologists and other medical personnel during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including preparation, operation of equipment, and monitoring of patients.

Quality Assurance and Compliance: Maintain adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations, including ACC, CMS, JCAHO, and hospital policies. Regularly update protocols and procedures to align with best practices and regulatory standards. Monitoring and reporting on quality measures.

Staff Education, Scheduling and Training: Provide ongoing training and development for Cath Lab staff, ensuring team members are updated on latest protocols, equipment use, and emergency response. Manage staffing for Cath Lab and Cardiology departments and adjust staffing based on volume and acuity.

Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with biomedical and technical staff to ensure Cath Lab equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and calibrated for optimal function.

Inventory and Supply Management: Monitor supply levels and order materials as needed to maintain a fully stocked, ready-to-use Cath Lab.

Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate documentation for all procedures, monitor patient data, and ensure records are securely maintained and compliant with HIPAA.

Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and families on procedure details, post-procedure care, and answer any questions to improve understanding and comfort.
