
Position: Cardiac Echosonographer Technologist

Shift: Per diem
Under the direction of the Lead Echo Technologist, this person performs services utilizing diagnostic ultrasound equipment specifically for cardiac structures. Performs and initially interprets Cardiac Echocardiogram studies, including Two-Dimensional Echocardiograms, Doppler, Contrast studies, Trans-Esophageal Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram, and Bubble studies. Communicates with different areas of the Cardiology Department, other hospital departments, and the Cardiovascular lab to facilitate delivery of service. Performs Echocardiograms at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
1. Performs comprehensive echocardiographic procedures including but not limited to Echocardiograms, Trans-Esophageal Echocardiograms, Dobutamine Stress Echocardiograms, and Exercise Echocardiograms, both in the Cardiovascular lab and in-patient units.
2. Recognizes and responds to urgent clinical findings, acts upon echocardiogram results requiring immediate response. Informs physicians of abnormal study results which may require immediate response (under direction of the director of Lab).
3. Collaborates and effectively communicates with the multidisciplinary care team including physicians and other health care professionals. Communicates with different areas of the Cardiology Department, other hospital departments, and the Cardiovascular Lab to facilitate delivery of service.
4. Ensures quality, accuracy, and integrity of documentation and patient reports.
Performs data entry of the echocardiogram results, generates formal reports,
Disperses the reports to referring physicians and inpatient units. Will telephone test results to physicians as necessary. Responsible for proper processing of billing data, files and records.
5. Ability to use and maintain all Cardiac Ultrasound Equipment. maintains and properly cleans all echocardiography equipment including but not limited to the probes and filters. Prepares the lab for readiness and patient appointments.
Helps maintain a clean and orderly environment for the Cardiovascular Lab.
6. Coordinates workflow and scheduling for echocardiography services.
Assists in scheduling special echocardiogram procedures and arrange for all necessary personnel.
7. Contributes to education and professional development activities
Helps prepare material for weekly echocardiography conference, Grand Rounds, and other instructional situations when applicable.
8. Promotes patient safety and service excellence. Takes all necessary measures to ensure patient safety and comfort.
9. Performs other related duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: GED or HS Diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
Experience: Health care experience preferred
Certification/Licensure: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or the Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification required.
Compensation Range:
$38.94- $57.86
