Job Description

This position is full time, days. The shift is 7:30am - 5pm, at Arnett Hospital.

Teaches patients about research project and procedures, participating in special projects, serving as preceptor of new employees in cardiac cath, and circulating and scrubbing for all types of cardiac catheterization procedures. Provides general patient care to cardiac catheterization patients, setting up and running equipment, and performing basic cardiac catheterization procedures.

• Requires post high school course work in anatomy; physiology and medical terminology; college coursework in health care; biological science or related disciplines preferred.
• Requires professional degree or certification when commonly associated with the professional experience the candidate possesses.
• Requires minimum education and certification required to become a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or required licensure and appropriate degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Requires Basic Life Support, (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Requires 1-2 years of cardiac catheterization lab and/or electrophysiology lab experience; leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
• Requires knowledge of all types of cardiac catheterization procedures and/or electrophysiology procedures and related equipment and instruments.
• Requires knowledge of scrubbing and circulating techniques in order to actively assist with cardiac catheterization procedures and/or electrophysiology procedures.
• Requires ability to prep; select; program; reprogram and troubleshoot cardiac catheterization equipment.
• Requires ability to stay knowledgeable about new data and equipment technology.
• Requires ability to assess patient at all times and to teach patient about research projects and tests.
• Requires ability to serve as preceptor to Cardiac Catheterization Specialist I employees and new employees assigned to the Cardiac Catheterization Specialist II position.
• Requires thorough knowledge of cardiac and emergency procedures.
• Requires ability to be on 24-hour call for emergency procedures.
• Prefer Registered Cardiovascular Technician experience.
• Prefer precepting experience obtained in a cardiac cath lab and/or electrophysiology lab.
• Prefer satisfactory completion of RCVT examination.
