Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Provide administrative, technical, and customer support for the Information Services & Technology (IS&T) Service Desk team. Assist with keycard access management, ID card issuance, service request processing, and the maintenance of access control systems and related equipment. Support daily operations by troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining accurate records, monitoring system performance, and delivering responsive customer service to campus users and partners.
Responsibilities
- Assist users with keycard access issues and provide support for access control-related inquiries.
- Support the maintenance, updating, and programming of offline locking systems.
- Assist users and campus partners with issuing and printing ID cards.
- Review, process, and track service requests through Jira Service Management, assigning tickets to appropriate teams and escalating issues as needed.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records related to access control and ID card services.
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot ID card printers, network encoders, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor application services, system performance, and print queues, reporting malfunctions or service interruptions to the appropriate Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) personnel.
- Provide general administrative and operational support to the access control and identification services team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Little to no prior experience required.
- Ability to learn and effectively support departmental processes, procedures, and customer service functions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong customer service skills and a commitment to providing professional support to users.
Desired Qualifications
Candidates should have some knowledge or experience in these areas:
- Basic knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, including troubleshooting and user support.
- Familiarity with basic networking concepts and principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide professional and courteous support to users.
- Effective telephone etiquette and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and support procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
