Job Description

The Carbon Neutrality Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and advancing the organization’s carbon neutrality strategy by providing centralized oversight of all greenhouse gas reduction initiatives in alignment with corporate guidelines issued to AISIN North American facilities. This position serves as the primary point of coordination between project owners, operational leadership, executive management, engineering, environmental, maintenance, and other business units to ensure projects remain on schedule, within scope, and aligned with organizational sustainability objectives.

This position does not necessarily perform the technical work associated with individual projects but ensures accountability, transparency, communication, performance measurement, and timely execution across the entire carbon neutralization portfolio.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

Program Coordination

  • Serve as the central coordinator for all carbon neutralization initiatives.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of active, planned, and proposed carbon reduction projects.
  • Coordinate activities among departments to ensure project alignment.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams and executive leadership.

Project Monitoring

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
  • Monitor milestone completion and project health.
  • Identify schedule delays, resource constraints, and execution risks.
  • Escalate issues requiring leadership intervention.
  • Recommend corrective actions when projects deviate from established timelines.

Carbon Performance Tracking

  • Collect, organize, validate, and maintain emission-related data.
  • Track greenhouse gas reductions associated with individual initiatives.
  • Maintain carbon accounting records supporting organizational goals.
  • Monitor key sustainability metrics and performance indicators.
  • Ensure data integrity for internal and external reporting.

Reporting

  • Prepare executive dashboards illustrating:
    • Project status
    • Milestone completion
    • Budget status
    • Carbon reduction achieved
    • Forecasted reductions
    • Risks and barriers
    • Overall program performance
  • Present routine progress reports to senior leadership.
  • Prepare reports supporting ESG, sustainability, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Risk Management

  • Identify barriers affecting project execution.
  • Track unresolved issues.
  • Coordinate mitigation plans with project owners.
  • Monitor dependencies between projects.
  • Ensure leadership is promptly informed of significant risks.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate meetings with project owners.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Maintain action-item logs.
  • Follow up on commitments and deadlines.
  • Promote accountability throughout the organization.

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop standardized project tracking tools.
  • Improve reporting processes.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate carbon reduction efforts.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase efficiency and project success.

Strategic Planning Support

  • Assist leadership in identifying future carbon reduction opportunities.
  • Support development of annual sustainability roadmaps.
  • Assist with prioritization of projects based on emissions reduction, cost, feasibility, and return on investment.
  • Support grant applications, incentive programs, and sustainability initiatives when applicable.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental compliance, or a related role. Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing programs or projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is desirable.
  • Experience with project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, Smartsheet, Power BI, or equivalent).
