We are looking for a Carbon & Environmental Compliance Manager to help drive the accuracy, governance and impact of Merlin’s environmental reporting across our global estate.

Working closely with teams across Sustainability, Finance, Procurement, Energy and Operations, you will take ownership of our Scope 1 and 2 carbon reporting, environmental compliance and performance analytics. You will ensure our environmental data is accurate, auditable and meaningful, helping the business make informed decisions that support our sustainability ambitions.

This role combines carbon accounting, environmental compliance and data analysis. One day you might be reviewing greenhouse gas emissions data from attractions across the world, the next you could be identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption, improve environmental performance or strengthen compliance processes.

What you will be doing

• Leading Merlin's annual Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas reporting across 100+ locations
• Maintaining carbon accounting methodologies in line with the GHG Protocol and relevant regulations
• Coordinating the collection, validation and assurance of environmental data
• Managing packaging compliance and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reporting
• Producing environmental dashboards, reports and performance insights for senior stakeholders
• Supporting internal audits, external assurance processes and regulatory reporting
• Delivering environmental reporting training and guidance to teams across the business
• Monitoring environmental legislation and assessing potential business impacts
• Supporting wider ESG and sustainability reporting and initiatives

This is a permanent contract, based in our Poole office, Basingstoke office or flexible, working 4 days per week.

Qualifications & Experience

You will likely have experience in environmental compliance, carbon accounting, sustainability reporting or environmental data management within a complex, multi-site organisation.

You should also bring:

• Strong practical knowledge of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas reporting and the GHG Protocol
• Experience managing large datasets with a focus on data quality, governance and assurance
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data into business insight
• Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working across multiple functions
• Experience supporting environmental compliance and regulatory reporting requirements
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using data analysis or visualisation tools
• Strong project management and organisational capability
• A degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, data analytics or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
