Unissant is seeking a Capture Manager to drive opportunity development and capture execution across the Department of War (DoW) and the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). This role blends account-focused mission understanding and leadership with hands-on capture management, owning opportunities from early customer engagement through proposal submission.

The Capture Manager is responsible for building pipeline, shaping opportunities, and executing disciplined capture strategies to win new business aligned to Unissant's mission, capabilities, and growth objectives. The candidate will serve as a trusted customer partner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Development

  • Identify, qualify, and mature new opportunities aligned to Unissant's strategic capabilities and accelerators
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Government mission owners and program offices
    • Acquisition and contracting officials
    • Industry partners and teammates
  • Lead opportunity qualification activities (e.g., customer access, budget validation, fit-to-win)
  • Contribute to account planning and pipeline forecasting in coordination with Delivery, Growth, and Executive leadership

Capture Planning & Execution

  • Lead capture execution for assigned opportunities, typically in the $25M–$250M+ TCV range
  • Develop and execute capture plans, including:
    • Customer and stakeholder mapping
    • Competitive analysis and positioning
    • Win themes, discriminators, and price-to-win inputs
  • Shape opportunities early by influencing requirements, acquisition strategies, and teaming approaches
  • Execute capture activities in accordance with Unissant's governance and review processes

Customer Engagement & Market Intelligence

  • Serve as one of the primary interfaces with customers during pre-RFP phases
  • Gather and synthesize customer, competitor, and market intelligence to inform growth and capture strategy
  • Represent Unissant at customer meetings, industry days, and relevant conferences
  • Operate effectively across classified and unclassified environments, as required

Teaming & Partner Strategy

  • Identify, evaluate, and engage strategic teaming partners, including large primes, niche technology firms, and small businesses
  • Support development of teaming strategies and agreements
  • Coordinate teammate roles, responsibilities, and inputs throughout capture and proposal phases

Solution & Proposal Collaboration

  • Work closely with Solution Architects, SMEs, and Delivery teams to:
    • Align customer needs with Unissant's solutions and differentiators
    • Shape compliant, compelling technical and management approaches
  • Transition opportunities seamlessly from shaping and capturing into proposal development
  • Support proposal activities including:
    • Win theme development
    • Storyboarding and reviews
    • Executive briefings and color team participation

Pipeline, Reporting & Governance

  • Maintain accurate pipeline, capture status, and forecasts in Unissant's CRM and reporting tool
  • Track opportunity milestones, risks, and resource requirements
  • Participate in capture reviews, technical and mission need reviews, and post-award debriefs
  • Support continuous improvement of Unissant's growth and capture processes

WORK EXPERIENCE & JOB SKILLS

Required Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of experience in federal business development and/ or capture management
  • Demonstrated success developing and capturing opportunities within DoD and/or the Intelligence Community
  • Strong understanding of DoD and IC acquisition processes, including FAR/DFARS
  • Experience supporting customers such as:
    • Air Force / Space Force (SSC, MAJCOMs, PEOs)
    • Army (PEOs, Futures Command, ASA(ALT))
    • IC agencies (e.g., NGA, NRO, DIA, NSA, CIA)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple opportunities and captures concurrently
  • Strong customer-facing, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in a mid-tier or growth-focused government contractor
  • Familiarity with mission IT, AI/ML, advanced analytics, cloud, cyber, and digital engineering solutions

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience; advanced degree in a related technical or management field is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS

  • Top Secret or Secret clearance preferred; should have the ability to obtain TS/SCI

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Ability to interface, inspire, and motivate at various levels of the organization and with customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to convey complex technical, architectural, and strategic information to non-technical individuals.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively across internal and external organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief technical and executive stakeholders.

TRAVEL

  • This is a hybrid or remote position with travel to the Washington, DC Metro area or other customer locations as required.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Mainly sedentary; in an office environment.
  • May be required to lift to ten (10) pounds.
  • Flexible in working extended hours as mission or project demands require.
