Ahtna Logistics, LLC has a requirement for Guard services at the White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The Captain of Guards (COG) is responsible for managing the operational security force programs to provide a daily deterrent against unauthorized, illegal, or potentially life-threatening activities towards government employees, visitors, information programs, facilities, and property. The COG shall supervise all personnel required to perform the security guard services as stated in this PWS. He/she shall at all times be responsible to the COR for the operational functions and duties required in the performance of this contract.
This position is located at the northern end of White Sands Missile Range at the Stallion Gate entrance east of San Antonio, NM.

Physical Demands
Employees may stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time at assigned workstations, and briefly run or hurry in emergency situations. The walking may consist of building and grounds inspections that may consist of covering as much as two (2) miles every two (2) hours, and may entail negotiating uneven ground and poorly lit areas such as construction areas. The employee may also climb stairs and/or ladders. Lifting/carrying assorted packages and/or equipment (such as flashlights, radios, guns, ammunition, watchman’s clocks, keys, etc.) that weigh up to fifteen (15) pounds total weight for extended periods; and up to fifty (50) pounds for brief periods (such as accepting delivery of packages or moving road barricades). They may also lift covers, stoop, kneel, and crouch while checking equipment and areas, filing documents, operating panels/computers, including discerning between colored (especially red/green) lights and displays. Perform other duties that could be classified as “light” work.

Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described in this job description are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.
The guard force will be required to work odd hours and be exposed to high summer temperatures ranging from 99 -115 degrees during the summer months and cold temperatures below 0 – 40 degrees during the winter months. The northern part of the range is considered “isolated” meaning there are no places to purchase food or beverages so contractor personnel will need to be prepared to bring their own food and water when on duty.
