Proposed Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. This position does require flexibility with scheduling in order to meet school schedules.
The Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (CAPP) Program Health Educator will provide support to the CAPP Program.
• Deliver evidence-based program with fidelity to youth in a variety of settings as prescribed by the CAPP grant
• Work collaboratively with the Health Education Supervisor/Program Director to determine, document, and submit curriculum Master Adaptations to ACT for Youth for approval as necessary.
• Conduct community outreach and education, including adult educational programming
• Complete required reporting accurately and timely as required
• Participate in ACT for Youth COE program evaluation and trainings, as required by NYSDOH
• Provide assistance and/or referrals for youth to obtain comprehensive family planning services, health services or other essential support services as identified.
• Assist with disbursement of transportation assistance to requesting adolescents or partnering individuals as needed
• Assist with disbursement of TAG Bags (free condoms) throughout the region, including the procurement of condoms through the NYS Condom Program, preparation of the TAG Bags with resources and condoms, and documenting disbursements and expiration dates of all TAG Bags.
• Participate in community advisory boards as necessary to stay current with local resources affecting youth.
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential functions:
• Bachelor's degree in health education or health related field
• Ability to facilitate discussion/teach classes to youth in a variety of settings on reproductive health topics such as reproductive anatomy, contraceptive methods, STDs, and HIV/AIDS.
• 3+ years’ experience working with youth and demonstrated ability to be inclusive and non-stigmatizing in their role.
• Knowledge of or experience with priority population to be served and community; and ability to work flexible hours
• Serve on HHHN committees that support the Mission, Vision, and Core Values; participate with enthusiasm and engagement.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
The pay rate for this position is $22.00/hour.
