He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role

This is an influential leadership role at the heart of our Capital Oversight function.

Reporting to the Head of Capital Oversight, you'll lead a team of Project Accountants and Capital Reporting specialists, providing financial stewardship, performance reporting and strategic insight across a complex, multi-billion-dollar, decade long capital portfolio. You'll be responsible for creating a trusted "single source of truth" for capital performance, ensuring our leaders have the accurate, timely and meaningful information they need to make informed investment decisions.

Working closely with Finance, Programme Delivery, Governance and Executive stakeholders, you'll provide visibility over cost, funding, budgeting, forecasting and delivery performance while driving improvements in reporting, analytics, systems and financial controls.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the project accounting and capital reporting functions.
  • Driving integrated reporting across cost, schedule, funding and delivery performance.
  • Providing assurance and challenge over forecasts, estimates at completion and financial performance.
  • Delivering executive, Board and governance reporting that supports effective decision-making.
  • Driving reporting enhancements, automation and performance analytics.
  • Supporting the implementation and optimisation of new programme management and reporting tools.
  • Developing a high-performing team focused on financial discipline, data integrity and continuous improvement.

You're a commercially savvy finance leader who enjoys turning complex data into meaningful insights. You know how to balance strategic thinking with operational excellence and are comfortable operating in large, fast-paced environments where governance, forecasting accuracy and performance reporting are critical.

You'll bring a track record of building credibility with senior stakeholders and partnering across the business to improve decision-making. Equally, you'll be confident providing challenge when needed, ensuring financial information is accurate, robust and trusted.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Significant experience leading capital project accounting, financial control, project finance or performance reporting functions.
  • Experience working within large infrastructure, utilities, construction or other asset-intensive environments.
  • Strong expertise in forecasting, financial management, governance and capital reporting.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • The ability to interpret complex financial and operational data and translate it into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience working across large capital programmes, portfolios or major investment initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leaders and governance forums.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, reporting innovation and driving better business outcomes through data and insight.
  • Experience with ERP systems, reporting tools and data-driven decision-making environments
