Job Description

CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced capital markets assurance professional to join our client in Hong Kong at Director level. The successful candidate will lead transaction-related assurance on IPOs and secondary fundraisings, direct reporting accountant work, and support engagement partners through to sign-off across listed and pre-listing clients. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead reporting accountant and transaction assurance engagements supporting HKEX Main Board and GEM listing applications.
  • Direct the preparation and review of accountants' reports, comfort letters and working capital and profit forecast assurance under HKSA and related standards.
  • Manage the assurance dimension of secondary fundraisings, rights issues and other corporate transactions.
  • Coordinate with sponsors, legal advisers and underwriters through the listing and due diligence timetable.
  • Conclude on complex HKFRS recognition and measurement matters arising in pre-listing financial information.
  • Support engagement partners on risk acceptance, scoping and engagement economics for capital markets work.
  • Coach managers and seniors in the specific demands of transaction assurance and reporting accountant practice.
  • Contribute to business development with sponsors, corporate finance houses and prospective issuers.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, HKICPA, in good standing.
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in audit and transaction assurance, including reporting accountant work.
  • Direct experience on HKEX listing applications and a clear understanding of Main Board and GEM listing rules.
  • Strong working knowledge of HKFRS and the Hong Kong Standards on Auditing as applied to historical financial information in listing documents.
  • Familiarity with SFC and HKEX expectations for sponsors and reporting accountants.
  • Experience preparing accountants' reports, comfort letters and forecast assurance deliverables.
  • Sound understanding of independence, ethics and quality management requirements for assurance providers.
  • Ability to manage demanding transaction timetables and multiple stakeholders concurrently.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; Cantonese and Mandarin are an advantage.
  • Strong relationship and business development skills with capital markets intermediaries.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience within a firm with an active HKEX reporting accountant practice.
  • Exposure to mainland China issuers and coordination with PRC reporting teams.
  • Familiarity with cross-border listings and dual-track processes.
  • Awareness of IRD reporting interactions relevant to pre-listing restructurings.
  • A network of relationships among sponsors, corporate finance advisers and legal counsel.
  • Track record of developing specialists in transaction assurance.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
