Job Description

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Capital Markets Application Developer to support the development, enhancement, integration, and ongoing evolution of a mission-critical trading technology environment. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Calypso and a solid understanding of capital markets products and trading workflows.

6 month contract

Hybrid - Toronto Financial District

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, and enhance applications and functionality supporting capital markets trading and post-trade processes
  • Build and customize workflows, APIs, engines, events, reports, and scheduled processes within the trading platform
  • Develop and maintain integrations between the trading platform and upstream and downstream systems
  • Support collateral management capabilities and related business workflows
  • Partner with trading, operations, risk, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex application, data, integration, and performance issues within a high-volume trading environment
  • Develop SQL queries and work with relational databases to support application functionality, data analysis, and issue resolution
  • Participate in application releases, deployment automation, testing, and production implementation
  • Improve development and DevOps practices across source control, build, deployment, and release processes
  • Provide technical support for business-critical applications while identifying opportunities to improve platform stability, performance, and maintainability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and enhancing Calypso-based applications; experience with recent Calypso versions strongly preferred
  • Strong experience with Calypso APIs, workflows, engines, events, reporting, and scheduled tasks
  • Experience with collateral management functionality within Calypso
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting integrations between Calypso and external applications or platforms using technologies such as messaging, event streaming, web services, and HTTP-based APIs
  • Experience working within Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting
  • Strong understanding of modern software development and DevOps practices, including source control, build automation, deployment automation, and release management
  • Experience with commonly used enterprise DevOps and CI/CD tools

Capital Markets Experience

Strong understanding of capital markets and financial products, with experience supporting one or more of the following:

  • Interest rate derivatives
  • Foreign exchange
  • Fixed income
  • Credit derivatives
  • Collateral and related trading workflows

Professional Experience

  • Experience developing and supporting technology within high-volume, transaction-intensive capital markets or trading environments
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, business-critical environments
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across development, infrastructure, operations, and business teams
  • Experience contributing within structured project and software delivery environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
