Assist in providing analysis to maximize capacity value of the generation assets on behalf of American Electric Power (AEP) Generation and the regulated operating companies through accurate tracking, timely execution, strategic planning and influential communication with stakeholders. Assist in analyzing risks as well as review necessary risk-mitigating methods for various capacity products and resources.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Assist in managing Pennsylvania, Jersey, Marlyand (PJM) Power Pool capacity positions from three year forward through the delivery year by operating company. Assist in maximizing margins and minimize shortfall risks and costs through auction participation strategies in the PJM Capacity Market.

- Assist in all data submittals as well as coordination of various groups to meet capacity requirements in PJM and Southwest Power Pool (SPP).

- Required to learn and understand Capacity rules and all Capacity related issues especially as it pertains to regulatory requests and proceedings.

- Assist in communicating the impacts of new and existing rules to senior management and operating companies, recommending actions and strategies to manage future costs and mitigate risks.

- Participate in developing strategies and intervene in legal and regulatory processes as required in support of or contesting PJM/SPP capacity rules and filings. 6. Ensure accuracy of all capacity-related data submittals to the Market Monitor, PJM and SPP.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Based on education, experience, interview and internal equity, this opportunity will be filled commensurately at either title. For this posting, minimum requirements are stated the lower grade. Increased expectations are at the higher grade.

Capacity Planning Analyst Sr. (grade 8): base salary = $99K - $128K

Capacity Planning Analyst (mid-level) (grade 7): base salary = $88K - $109K

Education Bachelor’s degree required in mathematics, economics or engineering or related field of study.

Experience one to three (1-3) years of relevant work experience in the electric utility industry, Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) knowledge, statistics or utility finance. Financial acumen is required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Strong critical thinking and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment by making decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

- Effective communication skills with the ability to simplify extremely complex concepts.

- Computer literacy with the ability to effectively utilize associated systems and software including Microsoft Office applications, VBA and significant work experience with database query languages such as SQL, or others.
