Job Description

The Strategic Planning position is responsible for developing long-term external backend capacity plans and strategies to support onsemi's growth objectives. This role partners closely with Business Units, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations teams to understand capacity requirements and proactively secure manufacturing capacity with external backend subcons.

The successful candidate will analyze forecast trends, evaluate capacity constraints, assess supply risks, and recommend strategies that ensure adequate probe, assembly, and test capacity is available to meet future business needs. This role requires strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.

Long term Capacity Strategy Development

  • Identify future capacity gaps, bottlenecks, and supply risks across key technologies and package platforms.
  • Perform capacity scenario analysis to support business growth plans
  • Develop strategic plans to secure sufficient manufacturing capacity in alignment with business objectives.
  • Recommend sourcing, allocation, and capacity reservation strategies with backend subcon partners.
  • Evaluate alternate sourcing and capacity expansion opportunities to support future demand growth.
  • Support development of long-term capacity agreements and strategic partnerships.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Business Units, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Finance teams.
  • Drive data-driven decisions through analytical insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with sourcing and operation team to understand key suppliers capability, capacity roadmaps, expansion plans, and constraints.
  • Support negotiations and discussions related to long-term capacity planning and supply assurance.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Develop dashboards and reports tracking demand, capacity utilization, supply coverage, and risk exposure.
  • Analyze forecast and capacity requirements across multiple planning horizons.
  • Assess capacity-related risks across the external manufacturing network. Identify potential supply constraints and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support annual operating plans and long-range strategic planning activities.
  • Provide recommendations based on data analysis, industry trends, and business priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain, capacity planning, or semiconductor manufacturing. Technical background can be a plus
  • Experience working with semiconductor OSATs with knowledge of manufacturing process, cycle time, supply chain, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools especially with AI.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence decisions in a cross-functional environment.
