If you’re ready for a position where your skills are highly valued and your work is incredibly important, we want to meet you. Bring your talents to a new streamlined energy company, dedicated to operational, commercial and safety excellence as we pursue our critical purpose of delivering the energy people need.

The Opportunity:

South Bow is seeking a Capacity Optimization Co-op Student beginning May 2027 for a 16 month work term. The Capacity Optimization team is responsible for analyzing and managing the ongoing capacity of several liquid pipelines. During your work term, you will work closely with professionals within the Capacity Optimization department, and you will collaborate with various teams to set flow rate targets, perform hydraulic analysis, and interface with the Liquids Pipeline Control Centre (LPCC) to optimize Drag Reducing Agent (DRA) injection parameters. Additionally, the role includes oversight of DRA deliveries to field locations across North America and conducting hydraulic analysis for both scheduled maintenance and unscheduled outages.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze and manage the ongoing capacity of several liquid pipelines.
  • Collaborate to set flow rate targets to ensure monthly commitments are met.
  • Perform steady-state hydraulic analysis.
  • Interface with the Liquids Pipeline Control Centre (LPCC) to ensure Drag Reducing Agent (DRA) injection parameters are optimized.
  • Review hydraulic bottlenecks, optimize DRA control system coefficients, and communicate these changes to the LPCC.
  • Complete hydraulic analysis for both scheduled maintenance and unscheduled outages to quantify the capacity impact and the cost of mitigation with DRA.
  • Provide oversight of DRA deliveries to field locations across North America.
  • Review outage plans provided by the Liquids Work Management Team to evaluate opportunities for optimization.
  • Conduct capacity, power, and DRA forecasting.
  • Prepare reports on system performance metrics as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Actively enrolled in a post-secondary program focused on Mechanical, Chemical, or Energy Engineering, or related field.
  • Must actively be a part of your institution’s Co-op program.
  • Must provide transcripts upon application.
  • Exhibit a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting.
