
At NorthBay Health, the Cancer Data Coordinator/Tumor Registrar efficiently operates the cancer registry in accordance with all requirements of the health care delivery system-medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory.He/she actively participate in Cancer Committee, contributing to its identification, planning and implementation of cancer-related services and programs, quality improvement initiatives, and other elements of other elements of cancer programs approved by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (ACoS). He/she supports the cancer clinical trials program through the collection and dissemination of data.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Designs, evaluates, and performs cancer registry functions, including,
Analyzing health information utilizing governmental and institutional standards
Abstracting and coding clinical data using current, approved, and appropriate classification systems
Obtaining follow-up data
Retrieving, interpreting, and presenting cancer data
Run data request reports for physicians and/or allied health staff
Scheduling, directing and monitoring employees or abstracting service
Safeguards patient privacy and confidentially
Organizes and supports activities of Hospital and Cancer Center Cancer conference/Tumor Board Serves as member of Cancer Committee and liaison between the Cancer Committee, physicians, Cancer Center staff, administrative personnel, and hospital staff.
Serves as member of the Continuing Education Committee. Submits quarterly report of Cancer Conference activities to include physician attendance, evaluation of conferences by physicians and other information as requested by the committee.
Assists the Cancer Committee specifically by:
Coordinating the preparation of the annual oncology report
Monitoring registry policies and procedures for adequacy and accuracy participating in quality improvement activities.
Organizing cancer detection/screening initiatives w/Cancer Liaison Physician
Assisting with oncology fundraising initiatives
Supporting all other Cancer Committee activities, particularly those required of programs approved by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and other accrediting bodies.
Updates and maintains the Survey Application Record (SAR) on the ACoS website in preparation for ACoS survey.
Acts as liaison between NorthBay Cancer Center and national, regional, and state governmental and community agencies.
Keeps current knowledge of ACoS and all other regulatory bodies’ cancer program requirements, and ethical and legal issues faced by health care facilities, health information professionals, registry professionals, and cancer programs. Continuously assesses and seeks to improve technical skills. Obtains and maintains, continuing professional education and the Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential.

The Vacaville campus hosts the Joint Replacement Program, NorthBay Wound Care and Outpatient surgery at the NorthBay Surgery Center.
In 2016, the NorthBay Wellness Center opened on the campus. It includes the NorthBay Cancer Center, the fitness center and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
