Job Description

Vialto Partners is a market leader in global mobility services. Our purpose is to “Connect the world.” As the only stand-alone global mobility business, we offer a unique opportunity for our clients, stakeholders, and colleagues.

Our teams help organizations manage their global mobility programs efficiently and compliantly. Our services span immigration, tax, business travel, rewards and compensation, and remote work.

At Vialto Partners, you will join a collaborative, globally connected team supporting clients across industries and geographic locations. You will have opportunities to broaden your experience, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to work that helps people and businesses operate across borders.

As a Canadian Business Immigration Law Clerk, you will work closely with immigration lawyers and other members of our Canadian Immigration team to support corporate clients and their employees throughout the Canadian immigration process.

You will manage a varied caseload, prepare immigration applications and supporting documentation, communicate with clients and foreign nationals, and help ensure matters are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable legislation and internal service standards.

This role is well suited to someone who combines strong Canadian business immigration knowledge with excellent organization, sound judgment, and a genuine commitment to client service.

What You’ll Create and Do

  • Prepare and coordinate a range of Canadian temporary and permanent residence applications for corporate clients and their employees.

  • Support applications and matters involving work permits, Labour Market Impact Assessments, employer compliance, business visitors, intra-company transferees, international mobility programs, permanent residence, and other Canadian immigration pathways.

  • Review client and applicant documentation, identify missing or inconsistent information, and follow up to obtain the materials required for filing.

  • Draft application forms, supporting letters, submission materials, and other immigration-related documentation for lawyer review.

  • Conduct immigration research and help assess potential options based on an individual’s circumstances and the client’s business needs.

  • Maintain ownership of assigned matters, including tracking deadlines, monitoring case progress, and ensuring files remain accurate and current.

  • Communicate regularly with corporate contacts, foreign nationals, and internal stakeholders regarding case requirements, timelines, risks, and next steps.

  • Provide clear, timely, and professional responses to client and applicant inquiries.

  • Use immigration case-management systems and other technology platforms to maintain case records, documentation, status information, and reporting data.

  • Support client reporting, program-management activities, and special projects as required.

  • Monitor changes in Canadian immigration legislation, policies, procedures, and government processing practices.

  • Collaborate with lawyers, law clerks, consultants, and global colleagues to provide a consistent and connected client experience.

  • Contribute to process improvements and identify opportunities to use technology and automation to improve quality, efficiency, and the client experience.

  • Support the development of junior team members by sharing knowledge, reviewing work, and providing guidance, where appropriate.

  • Uphold Vialto Partners’ standards for quality, confidentiality, professional conduct, and client service.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting Canadian immigration matters, preferably within a corporate immigration law firm, professional-services organization, or high-volume immigration environment.

  • Practical knowledge of Canadian temporary and permanent immigration programs and processes.

  • Experience preparing Canadian business immigration applications and supporting documentation.

  • Law clerk diploma, paralegal qualification, immigration-related credential, university degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain requirements and next steps clearly to clients and applicants.

  • Excellent organizational and case-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and time-sensitive deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to recognize issues that require escalation or legal review.

  • A client-focused and collaborative approach, with the ability to build trusted working relationships.

  • Comfort working with case-management platforms, document-management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and other digital tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving, and globally connected environment.

  • Fluency in French and English may be required or considered an asset depending on the position’s location and client responsibilities.

What Success Looks Like

You take ownership of your work, communicate proactively, and consistently deliver accurate and timely support. You anticipate client and applicant needs, recognize potential risks, and collaborate effectively with colleagues to move matters forward. You are curious, adaptable, and motivated to improve both the quality of your own work and the experience we provide to our clients.
