The Part-Time Campus Store Associate supports the Campus Store Manager in the daily operation of the FLCC Campus Store. This position provides hands-on leadership and operational support to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and student-centered retail environment. The Associate will assist with supervising and supporting student and part-time staff, customer service, point-of-sale operations, inventory management, merchandising, store organization, and special events. The position will serve as a key support to the Campus Store Manager and may assume responsibility for daily store operations in the Manager's absence. The position requires flexibility to work a variable part-time schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends during peak periods, Commencement, and campus events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Store Operations & Customer Service
- Assist the Campus Store Manager with the daily operation of the Campus Store.
- Open and/or close the store, as assigned, and ensure appropriate cash-handling and security procedures are followed.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Assist customers with purchases, returns, exchanges, product questions, and general Campus Store needs.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and accessible retail environment.
- Identify operational issues and communicate concerns or recommendations to the Campus Store Manager.
- Serve as the Manager's operational support and provide day-to-day leadership when the Manager is unavailable.Passionate about working with children.
Staff Support & Supervision
- Assist the Campus Store Manager with training, directing, and supporting student and part-time employees.
- Provide guidance to employees regarding customer service, store procedures, point-of-sale processes, and daily responsibilities.
- Assist with staff scheduling and coverage as directed by the Campus Store Manager.
- Monitor employee attendance, work assignments, and performance and communicate concerns to the Campus Store Manager.
- Foster a positive, professional, and customer-focused work environment.
Point-of-Sale & Financial Operations
- Operate the Campus Store point-of-sale system accurately and efficiently.
- Process sales, returns, exchanges, and other transactions in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist with daily cash reconciliation and related financial procedures.
- Follow FLCC Association cash-handling, purchasing, and financial-control policies.
- Assist with financial or sales reporting as requested by the Campus Store Manager.
- Identify and report discrepancies or concerns to the Campus Store Manager.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Assist with receiving, organizing, stocking, and displaying merchandise.
- Help maintain accurate inventory records and assist with periodic inventory counts.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Campus Store Manager.
- Assist with pricing, tagging, merchandising, and seasonal store displays.
- Help maintain appropriate organization of textbooks, course materials, apparel, supplies, technology, and other Campus Store merchandise.
- Assist with inventory transfers, returns, and other inventory-related activities as directed.
eCampus & Online Store Support
- Assist students and customers with questions related to online Campus Store orders and pickup processes.
- Support coordination between the physical Campus Store and eCampus operations as needed.
- Assist with processing or fulfilling Campus Store pickup orders.
- Communicate recurring customer concerns or operational issues to the Campus Store Manager.
Commencement & Special Events
- Assist with the ordering, organization, distribution, and return of Commencement regalia.
- Provide evening and/or weekend support for regalia distribution and other Commencement activities as needed.
- Assist with Campus Store operations during special events, orientation, athletics, and other campus activities.
- Support special promotions, sales, and department-specific merchandise initiatives.
Marketing & Campus Engagement
- Assist with merchandising and promotional displays.
- Help communicate Campus Store promotions, events, and new products to students and campus departments.
- Provide customer feedback and observations to the Campus Store Manager to help identify opportunities to improve the Campus Store experience.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow FLCC Association policies, procedures, financial controls, and applicable regulations.
- Follow established cash-handling, inventory-control, and loss-prevention procedures.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and accessible retail environment.
- Protect confidential customer, employee, and financial information.
- Report safety concerns, operational issues, or policy violations to the Campus Store Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of retail, customer service, campus store, or related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Experience working with point-of-sale systems, cash handling, or retail transactions.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, train, and provide direction to student and part-time employees.
- Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends based on store and campus event needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in business, retail management, higher education, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory or lead experience in a retail environment.
- Experience working in a college or university campus store.
- Experience with inventory management systems and point-of-sale platforms.
- Experience with online retail or e-commerce operations.
- Experience working with students in a college or university environment.

Compensation
- Part-time, hourly position.
- Approximately 20–25 hours per week, based on operational needs and schedule.
- Flexible schedule, with occasional evenings and weekends required during peak periods and campus events.
- 48 annual hours of sick leave

- Evaluation performed on a yearly basis with cost-of-living adjustments
- Hourly Rate: $18.00–$22.00, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
