Apache Junction Unified School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Campus Security Monitor who believes deeply in our Kids First mission. What You'll Lead and Support
• Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive campus environment for students, staff, and visitors
• Build strong, respectful relationships that support trust, safety, and belonging
• Patrol campus buildings, grounds, restrooms, parking lots, and high-traffic areas
• Monitor student movement before school, during transitions, lunch, and dismissal
• Provide security at extracurricular activities, athletic events, and school functions
• Assist school administrators in enforcing school policies and safety procedures
• Support law enforcement personnel when they are on campus
• Identify and report safety concerns, facility issues, and repair needs
• Issue parking permits and parking violation notices
• Assist students with minor safety or security concerns (e.g., bike theft, vandalism)
• Check identification of visitors and escort unauthorized individuals to the office or off campus
• Detain individuals suspected of illegal activity to prevent further harm until authorities arrive
• Respond to emergencies and support immediate safety needs, including basic first aid until paramedics arrive
• Occasionally assist in locating or returning students who leave campus without permission
• Communicate expectations, policies, and consequences clearly and respectfully
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district, state, and federal requirements
• Model professionalism, empathy, and a Kids First mindset in all interactions
What You Bring
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Experience working with youth, security, supervision, or related fields preferred
• Ability to remain calm, observant, and decisive in fast-paced or high-stress situations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with students and adults
• Ability to interpret and follow written, verbal, and diagrammed instructions
• Sound judgment and the ability to respond appropriately to sudden or severe problems
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct
• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, staff, and law enforcement
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
Physical & Work Environment Expectations
This role requires regular standing, walking, patrolling, communicating, and operating a motor vehicle. The employee may be required to run, physically intervene, or restrain individuals when safety is at risk. Duties may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
