Job Description
Purpose Within the Organization:
The purpose of the Campus Safety Student Guard position is to assist with GCU’s Public Safety department in an effort to keep the campus safe.
Responsibilities Related to Purpose:
- Direct traffic to different campus locations at booths.
- Greet, ID, and decal check everyone coming onto campus.
- Assist with other details as assigned by a Public Safety Supervisor or Manager.
- Work a minimum of two shifts a week, up to 20 hours a week.
Shift Needs:
- Day Shift: 0530-1500; every day except Wednesdays.
- Swing Shift: 1430-2100; every day except Wednesdays.
- Night Shift: 2200-0230; Friday and Saturday nights only.
- If your availability does not allow you to work two shifts, you may be terminated.
Qualifications:
- Criminal Justice Studies or ROTC students preferred.
- Sophomores and upperclassmen preferred; freshmen will only be considered in special cases.
- The ideal candidate will have a positive, friendly, and outgoing personality.
- Customer service oriented.
- Must be punctual.
- Willingness to learn and able to follow procedures.
- Responsible, trustworthy, approachable, and assertive.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
Education:
Grand Canyon University is committed to a student-first policy.
Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
