
SCOPE OF WORK: Performs safety and security functions associated with patrolling, inspecting, and securing buildings and grounds, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to alarms and incidents, assisting the community and public, maintaining records, and assisting with training and guiding new officers. This position reports to the Campus Safety & Security Supervisor. Monday & Fridays 5:30-10:30PM (10 hours per week) As needed occasional Saturdays 7:30AM -1:00PM. 2nd Shift differential pay would be added to the hourly wage.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency. Valid drivers' license required. Current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification.
Experience: Three years' experience in law enforcement work as a security guard/officer, police officer, corrections officer, or military police officer. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of experience.
License/Certification: Valid drivers' license required. Current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification or ability to obtain.
Special Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age upon appointment.
Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule and/or to change hours during any special or emergency event, to support college activities that exceed normal operating hours and to adjust work schedule to meet college requirements. This position is designated as Essential Personnel and is subject to all its provisions.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of law enforcement work and arrest procedures. Skill in dealing with offenders of the rules and regulations established for the control of pilfering and damage to state-owned property. Ability to enforce laws in accordance with standard procedure to control pilfering and damage to state property. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to work with people and secure their cooperation without the use of violence. Ability to perform investigations, question witnesses and prepare written reports. Ability to use judgment when using force to control individuals or groups. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with employees, residents, other law enforcement agencies and the general public. Must be willing to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority.
