Job Description

The Campus Rec Coordinator is responsible to provide and oversee effective operations for respective Campus Recreation administration, programs, and/or facilities during set work hours. The Coordinator will provide direction to part time and/or student workers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. They are responsible for maintaining safety, reducing risk, and executing job specific functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for directly overseeing a communications team of part time and student employees.

  • This includes hiring, training, developing, scheduling, and evaluating.

  • Assist with the management of facility reservations and scheduling of both internal and external events for various Campus Recreation facilities.

  • Complete day-to-day operational tasks to ensure seamless function of communications and scheduling including responding to reservation requests, communicating with Liberty Events, avoiding scheduling oversights, and monitoring and editing 25-Live.

  • Effectively communicate to team members, by meeting with facility staff, coordinating facility walkthroughs, coordinating day of details, and ensuring set up and tear down needs are met.

  • Assist in the management of the departmental email and voicemail inboxes, responding to questions or request in a timely manner.

  • Document, track and report program statistics and objective progress in the area of reservations.

  • Frequently oversee and assist with events or operations during evening, nights, or weekend hours.

  • Remain up to date on industry standards and performance benchmarks and ensure that Campus Recreation communications and scheduling remain effective and current.

  • Perform all other tasks assigned by the Associate Director of Communications & Personnel.

  • Attend all required Campus Recreation trainings and meetings.

  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is responsible for up to 6 student employees.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS

Required Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited university in Sport Management, Recreation Management, Business, Communications or related field.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, problem solving ability and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned or progress towards graduate degree.

  • Experience utilizing scheduling software, such as 25-Live

  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.

  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.

  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Environment

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well lit and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements

Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.

Pay Range

Compensation is determined based on factors such as qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, along with University needs and external market conditions. Market benchmarks may be used, as appropriate, in combination with internal equity to ensure pay is fair and aligned with the broader compensation structure.

The position may also be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.

$18.27 - $21.15
