About the Campaign

St. Louis Cathedral is the spiritual and cultural heart of New Orleans, a sacred place of worship, pilgrimage, and civic identity that has anchored Jackson Square for centuries. The Our City, Our Cathedral Campaign is a $75 million effort to restore the Cathedral and protect her for generations to come. With planning complete and restoration work underway, the campaign is preparing to enter its public phase in early 2027, inviting the entire city to join in caring for its greatest building. Position Overview

The Campaign Coordinator keeps the Our City, Our Cathedral Campaign moving forward every day. Working in daily partnership with the Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation and the Campaign Director, the Coordinator manages the details that allow campaign leadership to focus on donors: gift and pledge tracking in Bloomerang, donor briefings and meeting preparation, event logistics, stewardship and recognition, and accurate records.

The First Months

The campaign enters its public phase in early 2027, so the Coordinator's first months center on readiness: clean and complete records in Bloomerang, a working master calendar, relationships with the campaign's stakeholders, and the donor and logistical groundwork for the public launch. Anyone who enjoys bringing order to a fast-moving effort will find plenty to do from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Coordination and Leadership Support

  • Coordinate daily with the Executive Director and the Campaign Director on priorities, donor activity, and campaign timelines.
  • Prepare donor briefing materials, meeting agendas, call lists, and follow-up notes for campaign leadership.
  • Track prospect and donor activity, next steps, and solicitation progress for leadership review.
  • Maintain the master campaign calendar, including donor meetings, leadership and committee touchpoints, events, and public milestones.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact among the entities involved in the campaign, and support campaign committees and volunteer leadership with scheduling, materials, and meeting minutes.

Gift Processing and Donor Records

  • Enter and track all campaign gifts, multi-year pledges, and pledge payments in Bloomerang, maintaining data integrity through record updates, duplicate merges, and documented donor contacts.
  • Coordinate with the Foundation on gift processing and receipting so every gift follows the Foundation's financial controls and acknowledgment procedures.
  • Prepare timely acknowledgment and thank-you letters for signature, and manage pledge reminders and payment schedules.
  • Run regular reports on campaign progress, gift sources, pledge fulfillment, donor engagement, giving society membership, and recognition commitments.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files for gifts, pledges, sponsorships, events, and vendor agreements.

Events, Communications and Stewardship

  • Provide logistical support for donor gatherings, receptions, hard-hat tours, leadership briefings, and the public phase launch, including invitation lists, RSVPs, seating, name badges, vendor communication, and on-site support.
  • Track campaign materials, printed collateral, and donor recognition items.
  • Draft, proofread, and format campaign correspondence, donor updates, and stewardship communications, coordinating with Foundation marketing and communications on campaign website updates, newsletters, and collateral.
  • Serve as a warm first point of contact for donor inquiries by phone and email, routing requests to the appropriate leader.

Qualifications

Required

  • Three or more years of experience in nonprofit development, campaign support, or senior office coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with a donor management system.

Preferred

  • Capital campaign experience.
  • Experience with Bloomerang specifically.
  • Familiarity with the Archdiocese of New Orleans, its parishes, and its institutions.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

This role suits someone who:

  • Notices the detail everyone else misses, and keeps several deadlines moving at once.
  • Writes clearly and warmly, whether it's a thank-you note or a briefing for the Executive Director.
  • Is easy to talk to on the phone, since they will often be the first voice a donor hears.
  • Handles confidential donor and financial information without needing to be reminded.
  • Loves New Orleans, and respects the Catholic faith and the mission of the Cathedral.

Contract Terms

  • A minimum 12-month independent contract, with the option to renew by mutual agreement.
  • Schedule, expected hours, and work location to be agreed upon at contracting; availability for occasional evening and weekend events is expected.
  • As an independent contractor, the Coordinator is responsible for their own taxes and is not eligible for employee benefits.
  • The Foundation will provide access to Bloomerang and other campaign systems needed to perform the work.
  • All campaign records, donor information, and work product remain the property of the Foundation. A confidentiality agreement is required.
  • Safe Environment training through the Archdiocese of New Orleans and a background check are required.
