Pay: Compensation: $16.90-$20 an hour and $25 fuel stipend per camp session

Outdoor Journeys is a non-profit youth development organization, which operates a resident camp, Camp Nawakwa, near Angelus Oaks, California. The mission of Outdoor Journeys is to inspire individuals to connect with the natural world. Outdoor Journeys is looking for motivated individuals with a passion for working with youth to serve as a Program Specialist at Camp Nawakwa.

The Position
The Program Specialist shall support the mission of Outdoor Journeys in the delivery of the camp experience at Camp Nawakwa. Program Specialists will be responsible for ensuring the safety of campers as they participate in a wide range of camp activities including hiking, archery, arts and crafts, rock climbing, team building, fishing, swimming, canoeing, tomahawks, nature, and outdoor living skills.

The key duties of the Outdoor Leader will be:

· Attend staff training and attend all staff meetings.

• Be a positive role model for campers.

• Be a direct supervisor of campers in the program Camps

• Facilitate large and small group activities

• Clean camp areas after programming.

• Abide by and enforce camp policies.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Desire and ability to work with children and adults in the outdoors.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and to be accountable.

• The ability to work both as a team and independently.

• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and hike up to 5 miles.

• Current Red Cross First Aid & CPR preferred.

• Lifeguard certified preferred.

• Ability to pass background check & TB test.

Compensation $16.90-$20 an hour and $25 fuel stipend per camp session
