Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, hands-on professional to help oversee the care and operation of Camp Tuckaho in Troy, Missouri. Working alongside the Senior Camp Ranger, this role supports the maintenance and operation of camp facilities, monitors site safety, and assists with addressing day-to-day property needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, working outdoors, problem-solving, and being a trusted on-site resource.
The ideal candidate will be self-directed, dependable, and comfortable working across a variety of tasks in both independent and team settings. This role will primarily support camp operations throughout the week and on scheduled weekends, with hours varying based on programming and property needs. Overnight stays are not required for this position. This temporary role is anticipated to work no more than thirty (30) hours per week for the next 3-6 months to provide coverage during a staff leave of absence.
The starting wage for this role is $20-25 per hour DOE.
Essential Job Duties
- Oversee and maintain camp facilities and equipment to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for campers, volunteers, and staff.
- Respond to property-related emergencies and critical issues in a timely manner, notifying the Senior Ranger and the Director of Camping Services immediately when issues arise.
- Perform  routine maintenance and basic repairs, such as minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, and general facility upkeep.
- Support camp operations by assisting with setups, breakdowns, and other facility-related needs for scheduled events.
- Monitor and report any necessary repairs or safety hazards to the Senior Ranger and the Director of Camping Services.
- Work collaboratively with volunteers, staff, and contractors to maintain camp facilities and resources.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working order.
- Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, GSUSA and ACA guidelines, and as directed by a supervisor.
- Serve as a collaborative team member, working to advance the mission of Girl Scouts.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in general maintenance, facilities management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in a camp, park, or outdoor recreating setting preferred.
- Red Cross First/CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain such within 6 months of employment.
- Valid state driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and landscaping.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, and to represent the organization in a professional manner.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to live on-site during select weekends to provide 24-hour emergency coverage.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional short-notice coverage.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
Is frequently required to talk and hear, stand and walk, sit and use hands to manipulate and feel.
Is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
Is frequently required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must have the following vision abilities: close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
Is required to drive/operate an automobile.

Work Environment
Frequently required to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt, and dust. May be exposed to vibration and oils. May occasionally be required to work near moving mechanical parts and in a high place.
