Job Description

The Camp Nurse works cooperatively with program managers and the Warm Beach Camp Ministries Nurse Program On-Site Coordinator to deliver quality health care for attendees of Warm Beach Camp (WBC) programs, in concert with the WBC Nursing Policies and Procedures Manual and WBC Medical Standing Orders/Protocols. The Camp Nurse operates professionally within the scope of his/her own license while under the authority of the attending physical providing the Medical Standing Orders/Protocols. The person in this position shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior towards colleagues, guests and supervisors. Regular attendance is essential for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review and familiarize with the WBC Nursing Policies and Procedures Manual and the WBC Medical Standing Orders.
2. Complete nursing orientation with the WBC Nurse Program On-Site Coordinator.
3. Participate in the registration process for camp event to which the nurse has been assigned. For youth events, provide for in-take of camper medications and review of camper health interview with parent/guardian. Initiate plan for camper health needs. Set up of camper Medication Administration Record as per WBC protocol. At adult and family event check-in, be available to answer questions.
4. Responsible for medication administration as prescribed and labeled on original packaging and in accordance with WBC policies and procedures and nursing best practices.
5. Be physically present on WBC grounds for the duration of camp event to which the nurse has been assigned and be available for routine health care, medication administration, first response to medical emergencies and other responsibilities as outlined during nurse orientation.
6. Responsible for standard nurse documentation as per WBC protocol.
7. Provide for general health and safety of campers and camping environment.
8. Re-stocking of assigned supplies PRN and assisting with other nursing related tasks as available and assigned.
9. Assisting with nursing needs in other areas of camp as necessary and requested by the Nurse Program On-Site Coordinator or other WBC staff.
10. Provide for the safe return of all medications and/or medical equipment to parent/guarding at the close of youth camp events.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Knows and loves the Lord Jesus Christ and desires to see others know Him.
2. Supports the mission and ministry of Warm Beach Camp.
3. Nursing experience as LPN or RN.
4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
5. Self-starter and organized.
6. Ability to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and personalities.
7. Strong Communication Skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Nursing experience as LPN or RN

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

LPN or RN

Driver's License

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. On occasion, the camping program may require counselors to sleep outdoors with their campers. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
