Marblehead YMCA | Part-Time | Spring–Summer 2026
Are you an organized, energetic leader who loves working with kids and leading a strong staff team? The Marblehead YMCA is seeking a Seasonal Camp Director to lead our Marblehead Day Camp, based at our main YMCA building.
This role oversees a fun, active day camp program serving approximately 100 campers ages 5–12, with a strong emphasis on outdoor activities, teamwork, and youth development.
📅 Preferred start date: April 2026 (to support planning, hiring, and training ahead of summer camp)
About the Role
The Seasonal Camp Director is responsible for the daily leadership, administration, and overall quality of the Marblehead Day Camp program. This position is ideal for someone with strong organizational skills, experience supervising staff, and a passion for creating safe, engaging, outdoor-focused experiences for children.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Quality
- Oversee daily camp operations to ensure a high-quality, safe, and engaging program
- Develop and support age-appropriate programming for campers ages 5–12
- Ensure activities reflect YMCA values and include regular outdoor experiences
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and fun camp culture
Staff Supervision & Support
- Supervise, support, and coach camp counselors and seasonal staff
- Assist with staff scheduling, coverage, training, and daily oversight
- Model professionalism, leadership, and positive behavior management
Administrative & Operational Support
- Manage attendance, rosters, communication, and basic reporting
- Maintain organization of program materials and shared spaces
- Communicate effectively with families, staff, and YMCA leadership
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed
- Respond appropriately to incidents and support a safe camp environment
- Promote camper and staff well-being at all times

Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license
- Experience working in a camp, youth program, or educational setting; prior staff supervision or leadership experience preferred
- Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to program quality, youth development, and teamwork
- Must obtain and maintain required certifications within three months of hire, including CPR/First Aid, Safety, Child Abuse Prevention, and YMCA Day Camp Director Training

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight
- Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
