Job Title: Guarantee Camera Operator

Duration: Permanent, full-time

Reports to: Lead Guarantee Camera Operator

Location: On-Site and Gemini House, Bracknell

Company Overview

NEP UK, part of the NEP Worldwide Network, is a global leader in outside broadcasting, remote production, and media workflow solutions. Known for delivering high-quality broadcasts for clients like The Grand National, Wimbledon Championships, Premiership Football, Squid Games, and Love Island, NEP UK prides itself on its innovative technology, passionate team, and unwavering commitment to excellence. NEP UK is driven by our core values: Reliable, Ethical, Innovative, One Team. With over 4,000 employees across 65 countries, we deliver the moments that captivate the world.

Role Overview

This role marks an exciting next step for an internal candidate progressing into a Guarantee-level position within the Camera team, part of NEP UK’s wider Engineering function.

As a Guarantee Camera Operator, you’ll be responsible for the technical setup and operation of camera systems across a diverse range of live productions, from sports and entertainment to large-scale global events. You will work closely with Unit Managers, Engineering, Rigging, and Camera Assistants to deliver visually impactful and technically sound broadcasts.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role ideal for someone ready to step up and take ownership of the full camera workflow, with the guidance of senior team members and access to ongoing development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the camera technical lead on outside broadcasts, supporting setup, operation, and de-rig of camera systems.
  • Liaise with Unit Managers, EICs, and production teams to plan and deliver camera requirements.
  • Work with the Camera Stores Supervisor and oversee kit preparation and pre-event testing in our Bracknell base when required.
  • Advise on equipment choices, such as camera mounts, lenses, filters, and positions, ensuring creative and technical alignment with production needs.
  • Operate a wide range of camera formats, including handheld, long lens, and single-camera setups.
  • Apply strong shot composition and framing skills in line with production grammar (e.g., offside lines, aspect ratios).
  • Maintain awareness of and contribute to the desired production “look” and feel.
  • Support junior team members and assist in mentoring camera assistants and trainees.
  • Collaborate with engineers on basic fault-finding and ensure seamless operation of camera technology.
  • Uphold NEP’s Health & Safety and operational standards both on-site and in pre-production.

What We’re Looking For

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a camera operator or senior assistant capacity, ideally within outside broadcasting.
  • Familiarity with a variety of camera systems (HD, UHD, Sony, GVG) and support equipment (tripods, cranes, dollies).
  • Good working knowledge of lenses, framing techniques, and lighting setups.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, production teams, and talent in a professional and solution-focused way.
  • Awareness of live broadcast environments and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including some international assignments.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proactive, reliable, and collaborative. You take pride in doing the job right and being a team player.
  • A passion for delivering top-tier content and learning from those around you.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to balance creative vision with technical rigour.

How You’ll Lead the NEP Way

As a developing leader, you’ll begin to apply NEP’s Leadership Operating Principles in your work:

  • Stick Together – Support team decisions and help others align around shared goals
  • Say It in the Room – Promote open, respectful communication and feedback
  • Be Resourceful – Offer ideas, embrace better ways of working, and learn through doing
  • Make Time to Think – Step back to reflect and plan, while learning how to prioritise what matters most

You'll role model NEP’s values of being:

  • Reliable – Trusted by colleagues and clients to deliver with accuracy and care
  • Ethical – Fair, honest, and respectful in how you work and support others
  • Innovative – Open to learning new ways of working and solving problems
  • One Team – Always ready to collaborate and lift those around you

What You’ll Gain

This role is designed with growth in mind. As an internal step up, you will be supported by your Lead Camera Guarantee and colleagues within the Engineering function as you take on greater responsibility and autonomy in projects. Opportunities to broaden your expertise through mentoring, training, and working on high-profile productions will be part of your development journey.

You’ll be supported every step of the way by your manager and colleagues, and encouraged to develop through on-the-job learning, mentoring, and training programmes.
