Shift: Day Shift

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM with overtime as needed

The Calibration Technician performs precise calibration, verification, maintenance, and documentation of measurement and test equipment used across production and laboratory environments. This role ensures instruments meet Timken quality and traceability standards, supports process reliability, and helps maintain compliance with internal procedures and external accreditation requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform calibration, adjustment, repair, and preventive maintenance on a variety of measurement and test instruments (e.g. micrometers, calipers, indicators, torque testers, gauges, pressure sensors, dimensional inspection equipment, multimeters, temperature sensors, and specialized metrology systems).
  • Use calibration procedures, standards, and reference equipment traceable to national standards to verify instrument accuracy.
  • Record calibration results, adjustments, and out-of-tolerance conditions using company calibration management system or forms.
  • Label calibrated equipment with calibration status (calibrated, due date, next calibration) and ensure calibration stickers/tags meet company format.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on instruments, coordinate with vendors or maintenance for complex repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain and control calibration standards, reference equipment, and environmental controls required for calibration tasks.
  • Support internal audits and external assessments by providing records, demonstrating processes, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize calibration processes, turnaround time, and data accuracy.
  • Assist production and quality teams with measurement technique training, best practices, and correct use of measuring devices.
  • Dispose of or quarantine instruments that fail calibration or pose risk to product quality and return them to service only after proper rework and re-verification.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized calibration work area and follow all company safety and environmental policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in calibration, metrology, maintenance, or precision measurement environments (manufacturing, laboratory, or field service).
  • Basic understanding of measurement principles, units, and uncertainty.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and basic electronics for troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ability to use calibration management or CMMS software (or willingness to learn).
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and good documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and calibration procedures.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate degree or technical certification in metrology, instrumentation, electronics, or related field.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, or similar quality systems.
  • Previous experience using dimensional CMMs, optical comparators, torque calibration systems, or specialized metrology instruments.
  • Certification in calibration (e.g., ASQ CQT, or vendor-specific certifications).

This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR). Eligible candidates are; US Citizens, Green Card holders, Asylees or others eligible to receive US export license authorizations. Candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
