Job Description

Key Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Daily cake and dessert production: decorate and finish standard cakes, cupcakes, and seasonal items according to production plans, recipes, and presentation standards to maintain in-stock conditions.
  • Merchandising and product handling: package, label, price, and date-code product; stock and rotate display cases using FIFO; maintain attractive displays and complete required signage (including allergens where applicable).
  • Food safety and quality: follow safe food handling and temperature controls; prevent cross-contamination; complete cleaning and sanitation of tools/equipment/work areas; monitor product quality, freshness, and shrink and report concerns.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and effectively.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma/GED preferred. Completion of a bakery, pastry, or cake decorating program is an asset.
  • 1+ year of cake decorating experience in a retail bakery, bakery kiosk, or commercial kitchen preferred (an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered). Experience producing custom celebration cakes and working to deadlines is an asset.
