Position Type: Full Time, Department: Visitor Development

FLSA Status: Full -Time / Exempt

Reports to: Director of Visitor Development

Compensation: $50,000 Annually

Direct Reports: Lead Café Associate and Café Associates

Summary: The Café Manager handles all operations of the café inside the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, Delish / Delicioso. This position is the main point of contact for all current and future food vendors. The Café Manager will organize all orders for the café, manage the cost of goods and discover ways to increase revenue. They will lead the café team to prepare Delish-ious food and beverages, keep a crisp dining area, and deliver delectable customer service to our museum families!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge all visitors to the Museum
  • Mentor Lead Café Associate and Café Associates
  • Keep Café menu fresh and exciting
  • Recruit Café staff
  • Develop and maintain training materials and performance expectations for Café Team on an ongoing basis
  • Prepare for compliance with health inspections from the Maricopa County Environmental Health Department and other regulatory agencies
  • Order all necessary food and supplies for café
  • Process all invoices / payments in timely manner
  • Manages point of sale software
  • Develop promotional plan for business year with menu additions and combinations
  • Monitor foods using FIFO
  • Assist Department Director with annual budget
  • Able to perform duties of Manager On Duty, including crisis management
  • Process credit card, cash, and other monetary transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Meet Department Revenue Goals
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient Prep Kitchen at all times
  • Manage maintenance on all café equipment
  • Communicate positively and professionally to co-workers in all levels of the organization
  • Close / Balance daily cash drawer
  • Stay up to date on museum policies, exhibits, and events
  • Work with a high level of energy, strong work ethic, and sense of excitement
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills and customer-service orientation
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines and changing environments
  • Experience working with Children and Families
  • Comfortable in large groups of people
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • TOAST software experience is preferred
  • Basic Mathematic Skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or other languages desirable

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises staff

Education/Training/Experience

  • High School graduate or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of food service experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 years supervisory experience required
  • Must meet requirements of employment background check
  • Must have or obtain state Manager Food Handlers Card

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts as well as basic mathematic skills (subtraction, multiplication, division)

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills; Becoming efficient in Altru through training and usage to successfully meet departmental responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Environmental Requirements

Must be able to work in a well-lighted, temperature-controlled work area. May also be exposed to extreme weather conditions with constant ambient noise levels. Must be able to work in open area with other employees. Employee must adhere to current company and CDC pandemic related guidelines.
