As a Cafe Chef at our Castle Hill Seniors Living community, you’ll play an integral role in creating high-quality meals and dining experiences for residents, guests and community members. With a focus on food safety, quality, and service excellence, you’ll plan menus, coordinate café operations, and lead by example in a supportive and respectful environment.

Your opportunity

In this full-time role, you’ll take ownership of daily café operations, from food preparation to service delivery, ensuring residents and visitors enjoy a warm, welcoming and memorable experience.

With professionalism and creativity, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality food and service to meet customer expectations

  • Plan and coordinate café operations, including menus and stock ordering

  • Proactively manage customer queries and provide timely solutions

  • Maintain compliance with HACCP, WHS, and food safety regulations

  • Monitor budgets, contribute to sales and marketing initiatives, and suggest process improvements

  • Lead and support café staff through on-the-job training and teamwork

What you’ll bring

You’re a passionate and experienced chef with a flair for customer service and teamwork. You thrive in a hospitality environment where quality, safety, and client satisfaction are paramount.

You will also need:

  • Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent

  • Minimum four years’ experience in the food industry

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards

  • Excellent communication and literacy skills

  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)

  • A collaborative and positive approach to leading and supporting others

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
