PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Bookstore Attendant shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

This position is responsible for providing customer service, making food and beverages within the café, and supporting the mission of Glen Eyrie and The Navigators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Bookstore Responsibilities [95% of time]

  • Interact with bookstore customers and assist them with questions, purchases and conduct point-of-sale transaction.
  • Manage customer food and beverage orders and prepare food and beverages to fulfill customer orders.
  • Receive, input, price, and shelve new inventory.
  • Assist Bookstore Manager with product purchasing & staff training as needed.
  • Knowledge of Bookstore and Glen Eyrie goals, and how to contribute to them.

Additional Responsibilities [5% of time]

  • Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate.
  • Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required.
  • Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday Time Tracking system.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, 3-4 shifts a week including days, nights and weekends. Regular shifts are between 5-8 hours. Must be available for weekends.

MINIMUM AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.

Experience: This role requires strong organization & time management skills with an emphasis on customer service. 1 year of experience as a Barista or Retail preferred.

Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office, Point of Sale software, computer skills and ability to learn new technology. Strong telephone, cash handling, and math skills and knowledge.

Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong working relationships required.

Compensation: $15.60 hourly
