About RSPCA Queensland

For nearly 140 years, RSPCA Queensland has been a leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to improving the lives of animals - whether domestic, farmed, or native. We care for over 42,000 animals annually, relying on the generosity of animal lovers like you to fund 91% of our life-changing services.

Our Purpose: We exist for animals to live better lives.

About the Role

We’re looking for friendly, motivated and hands-on Café All Rounders to join the team at the Black Cat Café at RSPCA Queensland’s Wacol Campus.

This is a fast-paced and varied hospitality role where no two days look the same. From making quality coffee and preparing food, to supporting catering, events and creating a welcoming customer experience, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day success of the café.

You’ll work closely with the Café Manager and Café Supervisor to help ensure smooth daily operations while delivering warm, professional service that reflects RSPCA Qld’s values and commitment to the community.

This role is perfect for someone who is looking for casual work, who enjoys being busy, takes pride in great customer service and loves being part of a supportive, purpose-driven team.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone with a positive attitude, strong hospitality skills and a genuine passion for creating great customer experiences.

You’ll thrive in a fast-moving environment, enjoy working collaboratively with others and be confident jumping between customer service, coffee making, food prep and general café operations throughout the day.

You’re reliable, proactive and take pride in maintaining high standards across cleanliness, presentation and service. Most importantly, you’ll bring a warm and approachable nature and align with RSPCA Qld’s mission and values.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Greet customers in a friendly, enthusiastic and professional manner.
  • Take customer orders using POS systems efficiently and accurately.
  • Prepare and serve quality espresso coffee and beverages.
  • Deliver food and drinks promptly while maintaining high service standards.
  • Respond to customer enquiries for dine-in, takeaway, catering and online delivery orders.
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking and baking of menu items.
  • Support the daily setup, operation and clean-down of the café and kitchen areas.
  • Maintain café presentation including restocking shelves, display cabinets, fridges and customer areas.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene and WHS practices.
  • Accept and check deliveries to ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Assist with onsite and offsite catering and events.
  • Work collaboratively with the Café team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Serve alcohol in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies where applicable.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Previous hospitality experience in a café, restaurant or similar environment.
  • A positive attitude and friendly, professional demeanour.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Barista skills and experience preparing espresso coffee.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety practices.
  • Physical capability to perform manual handling duties, including lifting up to 10kg.
  • A genuine interest in animal welfare and alignment with RSPCA Qld’s mission, vision and people principles.

Why Join Us?

  • Employee Perks: From free on-site parking to exclusive discounts, novated leases, and 50% off Royal Canin pet food, we’ve got you covered! You can also adopt a new furry friend with free adoption options.
  • Professional Growth: Access expansive learning and development programs to help you elevate your career and skill set.
  • Purpose-Driven Impact: Be part of a mission-driven organisation where every task makes a tangible difference to animal welfare.

At RSPCA Qld, we encourage you to grow your skills, expand your responsibilities, and explore different career pathways.
