Job Description
Our Waterford Village in Hobsonville is looking for an experienced Café Supervisor to join our team on a fixed-term basis, working 37 hours per week from late September 2026 through to early April 2027.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll take the lead in creating a welcoming café experience for our residents, their families and visitors. You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the café, support and guide the café team, and work closely with our Head Chef to ensure great food, coffee and service are delivered consistently.
You’ll be comfortable jumping into the kitchen when needed, helping with food preparation and basic cooking alongside the wider kitchen team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supervising and supporting the café team to deliver a warm and welcoming experience
- Providing excellent service and building great relationships with our residents, families and visitors
- Working closely with the Head Chef on menus, cabinet offerings and the presentation and quality of food
- Getting hands-on with basic cooking and food preparation, including baking, sandwiches and short-order items when required
- Making great coffee and supporting day-to-day food and beverage service
- Managing stock levels, ordering and café inventory
- Overseeing POS and EFTPOS transactions and maintaining accurate café records
- Supporting catering, resident functions and special events
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness
- Training and supporting café team members to grow their skills
- Helping manage costs while looking for opportunities to continuously improve the café experience
What you’ll bring:
- At least 3 years’ experience in food service, ideally including experience in a senior or supervisory café role
- Confidence with food preparation and basic cooking – you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and support in the kitchen when needed
- Strong customer service skills and a warm, friendly approach
- Experience leading, supporting and developing a team
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and café operations
- Strong organisation skills and confidence managing stock and day-to-day café administration
- Barista skills or experience would be an advantage
- A relevant hospitality qualification or food handling certification would be beneficial
- Great communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of people
- A team-first attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
