Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our Property & Development team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the design, planning and delivery of new and refurbished Betfred betting shops across the UK.

The successful candidate will play a key role in producing technical drawings, shop layouts and space planning designs that help maximise trading performance and customer experience. The role will involve working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, architects and regulatory bodies to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and in line with all relevant standards and legislation.

The role is primarily based at our Birchwood office but will require occasional travel to sites across the UK.

Responsibilities

Design & Space Planning

• Produce CAD drawings and space plans for new betting shops and refurbishment projects.
• Develop layouts that maximise trading space and operational efficiency.
• Amend and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain accurate drawing records and project documentation.

Technical Drawing & Documentation

• Prepare technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Ensure all drawings meet company standards and project requirements.
• Manage drawing revisions and document control processes.
• Support project teams with technical information and design updates.

Planning & Compliance

• Prepare and submit drawings and supporting documentation for Planning and Building Regulation approval.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, planning requirements and CDM legislation.
• Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards that may impact projects.
• Support the delivery of compliant and safe shop environments.

Project Coordination

• Liaise with internal departments, contractors, consultants and external authorities.
• Attend site visits to gather information, measurements and design requirements.
• Support the coordination of refurbishment and development projects.
• Respond to project-related queries and correspondence in a timely manner.

What you'll need to succeed

We're looking for someone who is organised, motivated and passionate about design and construction.

You will have:

• Previous experience in a CAD Technician, Design Technician or similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing production.
• An understanding of building regulations, planning requirements and construction processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• A collaborative approach and the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders.
• A full UK driving licence is required.
